L.A. vs S.A.

As a resident of San Antonio and a SPURS fan I would like to congraulate the Lakers on there victory, but I would also like to point out that when the SPURS won the championship last year we had a Party whilst the denizens of L.A. (a minor minority I know ) had a riot.

Maybe we are kinder and more law abiding city (I think so) or maybe the knoldge that a large fraction of the city is armed is what prevents riots here.

Just another reason to live in TEXAS and not CA.

As this is not pertinent to Legal/Political and is only marginally about firearms; I'm moving it over to the General Discussion Forum. Look for it there.

That's a very interesting observation. Also, just look at what happened in Denver after the Broncos won the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. Major destruction. Denver is very anti.

Hey glenn at least for ONCE we get to see where the TAX dollars go.

And they did just fine for having there starting five for all of 48min during the season ( beat the lackers 3 times and no that was not a misspelling)

In one sense it's an unfortunate distinction for our fair city, but I'll take it over the alternative. :D

That riot was nothing compared to what the brit fans do after a game.Check the London Times. Those people are crazy as loons!!!!!!

We have a criminal jury system which is superior to any in the world;
and its efficiency is only marred by the difficulty of finding twelve men
every day who don't know anything and can't read.

If I lived in SA city limits, I would vote every single councilman out of his position. First they suckered the city with the stadium/auditorium. Now they're trying like the dickens to spend a few million on light rail. SA had light rail eighty years ago. It is called a street car. For the cost of light rail, you could buy every poor person in the city and economy car, and then the transportation problem is solved. I for one would be in favor of a monorail system linking the college campus', the medical center, downtown, and the colloseum, but this light rail stuff is a bunch of corperate welfare and I really smell a rat in it.

SA city council (past and present) has always tried to sucker the citizens. Remember Applewhite? No means NO!

As a Pacers fan, I'd like to congradulate the LA Lakers, and to issue you a challenge. Our Coach vs. your Coach. One on one. Winner takes the ring. I do also have one question; How much does Shaq pay to park under the basket?

Shaq pays 20000 hacks for every one foul that is called. That's the price for the paint.

Btw, has Reggie Miller ever won an Oscar for his great performance as a leading flopper in a basketball game?

As a further thought, Houston won two NBA titles in the last decade, and not so much as a hiccup.

Dallas didn't exactly raze the city to the ground after its Super Bowls, either.

Texas, or California? Not a hard choice, is it?

Hooliganism is alive and well in America. Even the Canadians have had problems (with hockey, of course). Sporting events, campus parties, ethnic marches...

Its all part of the deterioration of personal responsibility. Which is why you can probably find an inverse correlation between the frequency of hooligan behavior and the availability of CCW permits.

Skyhawk: Applewhite may not be THE answer, but if SanAntone doesn't look for a surface-water supply, it's gonna get real brown-grass and thirsty around there.

It hasn't been really dry in Central Texas since the 1948-1956 drouth. Imagine 300 acres just out of Austin; we were down to ten head of cattle--and feeding them. Compare SanAntone's population then and now...

Art,
Since Medina Lake becomes mud flats, San Antonio soon will be taking water from Canyon Lake. Eventually, I expect we'll get to see Cranes Mill again! ;)

I also believe Nestor may be on to something. In 1968 I watched (from my barracks window - Ft. Myer South Post) as Washington, DC burned. There was a lot more damage than what I later read in the newspapers.

(I know there were riots all over America and on many overseas American military bases. But it was spooky to watch our nation's capital burn.)
