Short and sweet: For IWB carry Kydex or Leather, we are talking hot and humid here for the summer-will I just ruin leather-can't see spending 50+ on Kydex, please give me your experience.

In very hot weather neither will feel like silk , but in my opinion kydex gets the nod .They both get hot, they both hold a gun well, but the kydex repells the water and lessens the rust factor . Leather Is softer on the hip but absorbs and holds the sweat against the gun all day. If you sweat alot it could take DAYS for the leather to dry out .

Based on my experience in the Texas heat, definitely Kydex.....

If you really like leather, check out some of Milt Sparks ( www.miltsparks.com ) IWB holsters. Some of their models have a protective lining on the back side of the holster, protecting the leather from moisture. Just an idea.

Pocket Holster: leather, the flexibility makes them more comfortible

Any other style holster: Kydex

I agree with Shamster. I carry a Milt Sparks Versa-Max 2 in HORESHIDE. Check out Kramer's web Site. They supply the Navy SEALs with Holsters. MADE OF HORSEHIDE! Is your Sweat more salty than sea Water?

Keep it well waxed! Find the highest canuba Wax content paste Wax that you can. I use Minwax paste Floor Wax. "Trowel" the Wax onto the Holster with a butter Knife. Rub well into the Leather. Now, melt the Wax with a heat Gun, or a hot hair Dryer. Don't over do it. Just enough to liquify the Wax, and allow it to soak into the Leather. Repeat until the leather won't absorb more Wax without undo heating. Buff, and you're done. Rewax weekly. Your Holster should last forever.

I live in GA and sweat alot while working. I had the inexpensive Galco IWB holster for my MK40 and every day after work I have to mop off my gun and let the holster dry over night. Read that this way, after work there would always be water(corrosive salt-water a.k.a. sweat) standing and dripping off my gun.

Yesterday, I got my Blade-tech IWB Concealex(platstic) holster, $55. So far it is really comfortable, and super easy to draw from. I'll know more come next week when I am at work and sweating. However, I always wear a shirt between me and my holster, so that helps with the comfort factor.

Maybe an equally priced leather holster would hold up, but with the way I sweat it would be soaked at the end of every day.

Wow. Sounds like quite a bit of work. Funny, I never had to do that with my Kydex IWB from Blade Tech. Last forever, huh? I think Kydex has a nuclear half life of 500 years. Isn't Kydex made of the same stuff as the chairs at MacDonald's??

Kydex. Not only is it impervious to sweat, it's thinner than leather. This fact will help keep the gun from "printing" through your clothes.

Funinsun, Gunslinger and I have a concealment holster that is very comfortable in the heat and with it the gun has hardly any weight on you, these are really comfortable and the concealment is unbelievable, Gunslinger conceals a 6 inch N frame. E-mail one of us if you want to know more.

I find the belly-band style sold by Action Direct to be quite good in high temps. It sits mostly over my underwear and still peeks the gun's handle over my waistband. Since it's not in direct contact with my skin, it's quite a bit cooler. It also NEVER moves.

It came highly recommended by others, and they were right. I almost never carry with my leather IWB anymore.

No, I don't work for them.
