KY Imports=Cheap guns!

Can anyone tell me about the quality of these firearms from KY Imports? They advertise used Sig P220's w/night sights for $449, used P226's w/night sights for $439, and used P228's w/2 factory hi caps for $389. That is unreal in the current market. Someone wake me up, I must be dreaming.

Where did you see those ads? they may have been dealer prices! A friend thought that the great prices in the Shotgun News were for everyone, until I showed him that it was dealer cost. You have to read the fine print.
I'm not saying those prices are dealer cost. But I would try to find out!

Those prices are for USED guns. Most in "very good" condition, like a police trade-in. They do have some good prices, dependent upon the condition of the guns.

I have gotten pretty good deals on new guns from KY imports. Police trades are some of the best deals out there. I bought a Sig 226 in almost new shape w/ hi cap from R guns in Illinois last year for $379! They also had sig 220s for the same price, but they were a little bit more beat up, with dings on the frames.

I have heard that the "excellent" condition guns from KY imports is a little less than excellent. This is rumor, however. In the good 'ol days of cheap shipping, inspecting a gun and sending it back if it was too beat up was possible. Now you'll be out $75 or so.

I live about 5 minutes from KY Imports. Their prices on new guns beat anything here locally or gun shows. I've looked at a couple of used guns they had, and I would have to say they are in line with the rating and quality you see at gun shows in my opinion. They are a little different. No showroom, you just ring a bell, they let you in a small room and they bring out the gun you want to see. I've been satisfied whenever I've dealt with them.

Heck I wish I lived close to Ky. being able to inspect a pistol makes a big difference.

So many pistols, so little money.

Be sure to call them about items on their website. I know they haven't had those P228's for sometime.

Another great dealer is Bachman pawn & gun. Great service, prices are excellent.

I believe those guns are police trade-ins. I personally would want to inspect the gun before I bought it. Most cops are not "gun guys" and don't take very good care of their guns, especially if they don't have any money invested in them. I know a guy who bought a police trade-in from CDNN then had to put money into it to get it working.

Aztec, why not e-mail Mark Lee @ marklee4411@yahoo.com & see if you can work out a deal where he goes & inspects the gun for you ?
He could get them to hold (with the serial no.) a particular gun & you'd be a happy camper !
Just a thought... ;)

I guess I could break down and buy a digital camera and then I could email you pictures of the gun and see if it would meet your expectations! I wouldn't want to make a judgement decision on someone else's money. :)

MRat, you said
quote:
Most cops are not "gun guys" and don't take very good care of their guns, especially if they don't have any money invested in them[/quote] -- police trade-ins do not come from officers' private collections but from a police departments. The dept. provided these guns to the officers--the officers didn't buy them.

Joseph, I agree -- BACHMANN Pawn & Gun in Dallas, TX sells nice guns at fair prices.

I agree with you, trade-ins are not from officers collections, they are department guns that are issued to individual officers. I was trying to say that, but maybe I wasn't clear.

A lot of officers do not take very good care of the guns that they are issued. I know this firsthand, I am also an officer and lots of my coworkers do not take care of their issue firearms. In general I personally would not buy a police trade-in, I would save up and buy a new gun.
