Kurt Jägerm master gunsmith and engraver

In the lat 50's my uncle was stationed in Germany and stopped by the Wiesbaden Rod and Gun Club. He purchased several guns. A pair of Styer Mannlicher-Schoenauer Model 1960 MC 30-06 rifles, and a Browning Superposed 12 Ga. Then he took them over to Mainz to have scopes installed on the rifles and have them engraved by Kurt Jäger. My dad asked him to pick up a "couple of guns" for him.

He just about had a heart attack when he got the bill of a bit over $600 for the 12 Ga and 30-06. After he passed away, I got the guns. I doubt the 06 has had more than 50 rounds through it.

The level of detail in the engraving is amazing. The stag is simply a work of art. As is the background texture, tiny minute little circles. The trigger guard, and ammo box bottom was engraved, add Kurt stamped his name in the top of the scope.

Scope and maker marks

I guess you can call this as the rifle is art...

True work of art. Even the tiny acorns are textured. I can't imagine the patience and skill it must have took to create such fine detail work on such a small scale. I'm a micro-machinist... but I use CNC machines, to work at such a fine detail by hand really shows the mastery put into this piece. That is a fine, fine heirloom rifle if I ever saw one.
