What's up with the Kel-Tec Owner's Group Website? I haven't been able to get on there in over a week. Does anybody have the scoop?

I don't know who owns and/or runs the KTOG (Kel-Tec owner's group) web site, and if it is a volunteer doing it for free or little profit, let me say up front that I appreciate it and have learned a lot from it.

BUT, I have always found it a little frustrating. When I first started using it, they always said you had to go to the news group/e-mail list (I'm not sure what it was called) to get the real info. This was a pain because there wasn't a way to easily search for specific topics or info - you just sort of had to read through everything and hope something useful would come up. Of course, there was a more modern bulletin board (similar format to TFL), but, for a long time, it wasn't used much and didn't have much info. But it was (for me, at least) a much better format - easy to scan topics, do searches, etc. And it seemed to be getting more and more use. Then they changed to a different bulletin board format that was a step back in the user-friendliness. And people griped about it. And others got defensive. Like I said, I don't know the reasons for the change - they may be good ones, but I know that using the KTOG web site always seems to feel like swimming against the current. I'm still interested in the pistols and information, but I don't go there nearly as often as I would if it's format were more like TFL, AR15.com, and many other forums.

Supposed to be back up soon with a bulletin board format similar to this one.

Fella that runs it has a family emergency right now & will hopefully get it up in a day or 2. He does it on his own time, not paid to do it. Three of us put up the $85 to buy the new software so we wouldn't have to suffer the old format anymore.

I guess all the bitching I saw there hit home. I simply stopped going there, the ancient software they converted to was awful!

He said the old bulletin board software was causing a server problem and he had no choice but to get rid of it. The latest format was really bad but better than nothing. A few of us chipped in to get something like we had before so we'll be back in business once Ray gets his family issues resolved. He's a good guy, volunteered to take over the board a awhile back when whoever owned it before wanted to move on. He apparently installs software for a living & said he is getting caught up on back business & will then get the board up soon.

It is back up again. See the message at "The Counter" link for an update about the new message board.
