KT 1911 Frame

Anyone ever use the KT 1911 80% frame? Was it any good? Is it stainless or just carbon steel? Cast, forged, billet? What has to be done to finish it, just cut the slide rails? What else is out there in the way of unfinished frames, and what is better?

I've been dong a whole lot of reading on these 80% frames over on homegunsmith.com. Many guys on that board have posted pics and such of building a 1911 from an 80% casting and its pretty impressive. While I would love to try one, the $180+ cost of the frame is a real turnoff. I still have to put in more work to get it useable, in 80% 1911 (just cut the slide rails), yet it costs more than several receivers that already work. But, I guess the higher cost is the cost you pay in order to get it without going through an FFL.

I think the KT is the one that is made in two halves and brazed together. Saves them the cost of a big broaching setup to cut the magazine well and frame interior I think the slide rails are the only milling operation left to do, but these things are pretty rough and take a lot of handwork to turn into a gun.
