I haven't purchased a new rifle in over 30 years. I'm very inetrested in the modern tactical type rifles out there. I'm a bit overwhelmed, there are so many to choose from. I recently came across a Kriss Vector .45ACP in a gun store and the owner had a lot of good things to say about it. Does anyone have any feedback for me? I won't be making the purchase for several months and I want to look into different rifles. If you have any other recommendations I'd like to hear about them as well.

Everything I've read/seen about it has been 100% positive. But I've never shot one. The rate of fire on the fully automatic version is retarded fast, and is actually capable of shooting faster. They slowed it down to improve accuracy which from what i saw was also pretty good.
From a physics standpoint, it might be the most beautiful production firearm on the market. I don't see any reason why it might be more useful than any other pistol caliber carbine for the average person. I haven't shot one either btw. It seems like it's a really fun gun--but for the money, you could probably get more out of something else. Then again, I'm young and that sounds like a LOT of money to me

does it have a stock and verticle grip on it?
if so its a NFA weapon adn will require a tax stamp that is $200 and 6month wait from the ATF
ETA: the form 4 will also require either a trust($400 from a lawyer) or approval from your local Chief of Police stating you can legally own NFA weapons

Sinlessorrow, they make the Kriss Vector as a rifle with a 16 inch barrel. No stamp required.
I owned one for about 2 months. It is as good as you have heard.
It has a fantastic cool factor,gets lots of attention at the range.
It would be great if you are in law enforcement or the military as a room clearing weapon.
I found after a short time that there was not much you can do with it. It is impressively accurate and the recoil is non existant,a beautiful rifle for sure,but no real use other than shooting paper, fun to shoot.
I thought it was cool that you can use Glock 21 mags,so I bought a G21 so I could not only have a pistol and rifle that uses the same ammo but use the same mags as well.
But I knew that eventually I would use it as trading material,thus only having it for 2 months.

It's design and functionality (recoil system) are geared for automatic fire...and a semi-auto version is just a lot of dough spent unnecessarily for what a .45 carbine will do. Every time I've thought about buying one, that's the thinking that's held me back.

I have actually fired one (range rental) and it was a lot of fun to shoot. The range hardly ever cleaned their weapons though, and it was very dirty so there were a few failures as a result. From what I saw it wasn't so dirty that an AR would have kept trucking just fine at the same "dirtiness" level. Reliability issue? Maybe... Only put 100 rounds through it.
There was also still noticeable recoil even with the new design features (and +P ammo I was shooting), but similar to some of my friend's 9mm carbines I have shot previously. Like many said, you'll most likely really feel the advantage in full auto shooting (which kills the whole concept for us civilians).
Does it make the Mechanical Engineer in me get excited? Yes, very much so (would love to take one apart). Would I spend the cash on one? Only if I had a few grand that I didn't know what to do with. From a straight up civilian practical point of view, there are other things that will do the same job as well or better for a lower price point.

Here's my take - they've got the ingenious action which negates muzzle rise during full-auto firing, but as a civilian, I'd be limited to semi-auto firing anyways, so the neato/expensive engineering is wasted on me. So, needless to say, I'm not interested. YMMV.

If I was a Colombian drug lord I would outfit all my thugs with this gun. . . .but since I'm not I see no other real use for it. It's to guns what the Nissan gtr is to cars. Maybe not a classic but a technological work of art. What's the point of having one in semi auto though. It's like having that car with a top speed limiter at 50 mph. I do have a friend though with a full auto P90. It's awesome but mostly a range queen. What else can you do with a submachine gun
