Just recieved a Springfield Model 1899 carbine. Anyone have a link to an owners manual or disassembly instructions? Its in dire need of a complete cleaning. The stock has a crack through the handguard also, anyone know where to find a replacement?
You didn't state whether a rifle or carbine but basically no problem. Remove the bolt (from unloaded rifle) by bringing to the rear position, gently prying up the extractor with a screwdriver slightly and turning the bolt a bit further to the left.
Remove barrel band or bands if any..... remove both trigger guard screws, one is longer, remember which. Action may now be lifted out.
The magazine box really can be cleaned and lubricated without further disassembly unless it is really gunked up. I don't usually go any further in taking the rifle down.
