Kodiac is SICK OF "CARRY"

Oh yeah! Its time... Its past due... Get ready for another Kodiac's SICK OF thread.
In the past - I have ranted on being sick of several things... One was the over use of the word TACTICAL. At that time every thing had to be TACTICAL. Everything was called TACTICAL. I can still to this day drive 15 miles (taking a good hour in Salt Lake traffic) to a large cop shop and buy TACTICAL PRINTER PAPER, and TACTICAL NOTEPADS - serious, I cant make this stuff up. ULTIMATE is also a continuing problem - as right now there are no less than about 75 ULTIMATE handguns on the market and more coming. Is it just me - or is an ULTIMATE thing like "There can be only ONE"? I guess I was thinking wrong be cause you can have several ULTIMATEs... Ultimate must now mean "Pretty Dang Good".
Today you can't buy an autopistol with out worrying weather or not its a CARRY gun. WTF? Every Pistol is a CARRY PISTOL! A Desert Eagle is a carry pistol! Thats what pistols are designed for -to be carried on ones person to be ready when you need it. Simple. Things NOT carry: 1871 Mausers, Browning M-2s, and the 90mm Recoiless Rifle or a rifle in .505 Gibbs - these are not "carry" guns. Like I said -Any handgun is a carry gun. Thats why it's a handgun.
Its amazing that the gun community being made up of the most responsible and most mature adults in the world - are so damned gullible and suckers for a not even clever bit of marketing hype. Dont be offended - I am not casting stones - I am guilty as charged myself... I have had CARRY AND TACTICAL guns... Nice.
Guess I am ranting at myself for this... I had wasted a lot of money on these myself. A handgun doesn't have to be contoured like a proctology implement to be suitable for daily and continual service. These MELTED types conversions are nice - they are pleasing to the eye and the hand. Yet they are no better shooters or more effective tools of defense because of it. The Bobtail conversion is nice - but you can carry a 1911 concealed without it. People have been carrying handguns for hundreds of years without these innovations.
Heaven forbid a company market an "Ultimate Tactical Carry" pistol. It would sell a million.
Looking out ourselves I tend to think we are sometimes a silly lot.

Rome did not create a great empire by having meetings; they did it by killing all those who opposed them.

Tactical Toilet paper? My pet peeve is this current use of the "SNIPER RIFLE" designation. Also "EXTREME". Someone is Marketing an "EXTREME CHEESEBURGER"...Yikes!

HS,

That's about as "PC" as you can get! ;)
When you find one, let me know - I'll take two 'cause they're so small...

...defend the 2nd., it protects us all.
No fate but what we make...

Frankly, I'd be terrified to tray an "Extreme Ultimate Cheese Burger" unless I had an extreme supply of "Tactical Assualt Ultimate TP"

We all have our gremlins. George's happen to ULTIMATE, CARRY and TACTICAL.
Mr.X'x is SNIPE RIFLES and EXTREME.
Sensop's is, of course, the green smiling little.........no I won't do it to you here buddy.
CMOS's is SUPER.

I just LOVE how the media tosses around the term 'assault'. Stronger than a locomotive... faster than a speeding bullet... able to villify with a single word!!! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's just frikkin' stupid!

Uhh - weren't the Walker's originally horse pistols? Hung from the saddle rather than the belt? I may be wrong, but IIRC, weren't they and some earlier pistols meant to be horse or pack guns?

Not that I don't tend to agree with you, mostly. But I don't carry - though I do keep stuff real handy.

I live in a small town partway between Reno and Vegas. There are a couple thousand in the county, most of them in the county seat where I live. There were the Storie County horse shootings last year. Churchill County had a couple cattle shot bout the same time. Not too long before that a friend's mare and filly were shot a couple miles south of town here in Mineral County. Made another guy I know sick cause he had a feeling the guys he saw were up to no good but didn't grab the 257 Weatherby he'd built on the action I'd traded him and go check it out.

That's how a lot of people are around here. Old fashioned "neighborly" cause in the desert, that's just self preservation. Never caught the local shooters, but there's a bunch of good old boys with scoped rifles and cell phones and binoculars who ain't forgot it cause either them or friends still run livestock around there.

I'm waiting on rings to scope a bolt action for the truck. Meantime an SKS with AK mags is behind the seat. Same way with knives. Got an Endura in my pocket but no belt knife. But behind the seat with the SKS is a 20" khukuri.

Nope, don't carry. What for? May get a permit though, cause then I'm exempted from the Brady law. Anyway, just how I see it.

I am still looking for one of those high capacity assault coffee makers. I also need a tactical coffee grinder and a good carry coffee cup. :D :D

Tactical Toilet Paper is paper that is printed in a camouflage pattern to prevent the user from developing an entry hole where there should only be a exit hole.

I'll carry your opinion on to some of my gun-owning friends, then carry their opinion back to you George, and we'll see what weight their opinion carries.

After usage, most toilet paper is 'tactical'. Depends on the user,
wether the camouflage pattern is 'desert', 'woodland' or 'arctic'.

Speaking of TP, here in CA it is now sold only 10 sheets per roll. Nobody NEEDS a high capacity 500 sheet roll.

That's ONE ply only, BTW... 2 ply is considered to be a magnum roll, restricted to military use only.
