Kobra / Cobra sights and mounts for AK's

Anyone have any experience with these, good or bad?: http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/kobra1.html

The folks at AK.Net seem quite enamored of them, but I'm curious about thoughts here at TFL.

Application would be Chinese, Bulgarian, Egyptian Maadi or Romanian AK. Cost is $143 for the sight, and another $22.50 for the mount.

Thanks. Regards from AZ

I bought one from Tantal. He was helpful in his e-mails, and delivered as promised. The Cobra/Kobra sight was new, with accessories, as described. It appears well-made and sturdy. It fits on my SAR-1 fine. It was a little bit of a puzzle figuring out how it was supposed to lock in place - but once I figured it out it adjusts to be very solid, and is easy to remove and replace. I did have a little trouble seeing the reticle on bright days against light backgrounds (white paper plates), but maybe my batteries were low. Most others don't seem to have this problem. The design of the sight, while sturdy, is a little clunky (it seems like it could be a little more compact, and the housing covers some of the field of view). But these are pretty minor issues. I think the Cobra from Tantal is the way to go if you want a red dot sight for an AK.

I loooove mine. It will really allow you to get more accuracy out of your AK than what you thought was possible. I've never had a problem with seeing the dot...especially using the sunshade that comes with it. It's certainly rugged. If you have an AK, get a Kobra...they're lots of fun.

Be forewarned. If you have to put on a mount, get cobalt drill bits...and plenty of 'em (at least two pilots and two full size). That steel is much harder than you think.

I too shall sing the praises of the Kobra sight and Tantal's customer's service. Rugged excellent scope at a very good price. Mount is solid and quick to attach to or remove sight from. Very good deal.
