Known criminals with concealed-weapons permits ???

The following quote from The Arizona Republic, Friday, April 28,2000 pg A9
Title..." INS feared armed defenders of Elian's relatives."..." Republic news services."
Second paragraph in full..." Many of the individuals were known to have concealed-weapons permits and criminal records, and all were involved in a structured security system designed to prevent Elian's removal from his relatives, officials said. "
They are not only printing pap, they are taking credit for doing the "research"

Your newspaper editor has gone of the deep end for Clinton. Amazing they can print such pap. They probably even think they are running a newspaper!

Yeah that’s why we need more gun laws. To keep up with the laws the government breaks.
 
I think that "ccw holders with criminal record" was said by the Clinton administration, because I've heard it elsewhere. And it is a load of BS.
 
I encountered that same statement in an article printed locally. After reading further, I discovered that they didn't mean that there were CCW holders who also had criminal records, even though that's what they printed.
It was part of the govt's explanation regarding the level of force they felt compelled to use to rescue Elian.
Apparently, their intelligence identified 3 rings of security around the kid. The closest in proximity to him were several people in the house who supposedly had CCW's. Then there was a ring of people around the outside of the house which supposedly contained people who had the criminal records. Finally there was the general crowd milling around which supposedly could have contained all sorts of wackos and assorted dangerous types.
Of course, none of these potential miscreants have been identified, but that wouldn't stop our benevolent govt. or their propaganda ministry from misrepresenting the facts anyway.
 
CCW's in this incident are a moot point. They were in a private home, and didn't need them in order to be armed. They could easily have been armed to the teeth without the gov'ts knowledge. Reno was only using it as an excuse. Also, if the family/friends/supporters intended to act criminally, they didn't need a permit for that. Criminals don't need permits... they're CRIMINALS!

And if, in fact, there were people there with CCW's who had criminal records, whose fault would that be? Who ISSUED the permits?

I smell a rat named Reno.
