Know a lot of you aren't in Texas (sorry) but I was going to this indoor gun range tonight but was met with about 6 cop cars, a fire truck, ambulance and police tape blocking their entrance. Not looking for rumors but the shooting community may know. Hope everyones ok.

1. Watch the language filter.

2. Selfish - sorry to put on my psychologist hat in a gun world but one does not know what drives someone. Biological factors in depression cannot be always be overcome by toughing it out and free will. Not to start a discussion on that. But if you ever have to deal with such - cliches and a Marion Robert Morrison attitude may not be called for.

Marion slapping you on the movie screen isn't the reality.

3. Of course, I feel sorry that Red's had to go through this. Been there a few times. Took my daughter there to shoot. It's just a general horror show.

I had to deal with one of these a couple of years back, and an associate had to deal with one last year.

Am I just noticing reports of range suicides more, or are we actually seeing an upward trend?

That is a sad story, especially with the children as witnesses.

There is an indoor range near Tacoma WA that will not let people shoot if they show up alone, unless they bring their own gun. In other words, they want to filter out a person who would rent a gun and then kill himself.

Marion Robert Morrison
Ah yes, we prefer to call him John Wayne. ;)

Not great for the range, but it is the logical place to do it. You know that there will people around familiar with gun safety. If you do it in your home those 8 and ten year old kids might walk in and find a loaded firearm with one in the chamber and safety off. Walk off into the woods and who knows when or who will find it. Renting a gun might be an issue, but at least a few of the instances in Ohio it has not.

At least that is how I have come to look at this more and more common occurrence. It does seem that most of the time the people committing suicide are more aware of who is around as I usually hear about this happening on ranges with no one or just a few adults. The bum should have at least waited until the kids were off the range. Not like he couldn't wait or couldn't afford to put a few extra boxes of ammo on his credit card and shoot while he waited.

That is nonsense IMO. What if i bring a personal gun with me but want to rent one of theirs to try it?

Same at the ranges around here. Come alone and bring your own gun, fine. Want to rent one of theirs, you need someone to come with you, even if you also brought your own gun.

It might work. Then again, it'll have a chilling effect on folks who don't yet have a gun, but want to try a few out to find what's best for them.

Sad. Between their two locations, I believe this makes four range suicides in a little over two years or so. I really wish we had more professional range options in town. Being immediately surrounded by renters, newbies, exchange students, and tourists does not make for a comfortable range trip at all. These range suicides just make matters worse.
