You can submit questions for Slick Willie on this site. The "best" questions will be selected for Klinton to answer during part of the program. Of course, I'm sure they'll be biased when the pick which questions to ask, but I figure that if enough of us ask strong and hard questions, one of those should make it on the show.

I posted the following question, figuring using the education and "our children" angle might work. I'm not holding my breath!

Mr. President,

The NRA has long been a proponent of firearms safety, and developed the "Eddie Eagle" program to teach children about firearms safety. Since firearms are such a part of our history, culture, and society, and your administration assures us there is no agenda to "take our guns away", thereby implying they will be with us always, would you support working together with the NRA to make firearms aducation more widespread and easily accessible to parents, schools and children?

The whole intro is a LIE from MSNBC. According the CDC stats suicides from ALL causes rank 8th and homicides including LEGAL intervention rank 13th on a table with only 15 entries. How did they determine that guns ranked as the second cause of death???????????????

"Will you require your Secret Service agents to put trigger locks, magazine disconnects, and "smart gun technology" on the weapons they use to protect you? If not, why?"

I'll try to watch the show. But, IMHO, it is a complete waste of time submitting a question to Bill.

Are you expecting to trap him, or force him into a position where he would actually have to answer honestly? Please ... ;)

Jeff,

I know and you know there's no chance in hell my question will get asked. What would he say? "No, I don't think education is a good idea" ? I figured what the hell, why not send in a question. I'm taping it tonight, but I already know how biased and "anti" it'll be.

I couldn't find the link to submit questions. I would ask him:

Mr. President, I've heard you say (paraphrased) "nothing I've ever done has taken a gun away from a hunter or sport shooter." Mr. President, do you believe that people have the right to self defense?

Well, I just got done watching the show.

I think Clinton, and many of his citizen control minions are getting smarter. For example, he mentioned a number of times the use of firearms for self defense. I think they are beginning to realize their rhetoric has gotten a little ahead of them, and they are toning down their more absurd tactics.

Brockaw was quite biased, but more even-handed than I expected. His gun handling was unsafe ... big surprise. The 'arms dealer' was a real bozo. 'Good' guns and 'bad' guns? Sheesh.

My strongest emotion was regarding LaPierre's failure to show up. Maybe someone here can straighten me out, but it seems to me this was a foolish decision. I'm disappointed he wasn't there, and I'm also disappointed they couldn't at least have gotten representation from GOA, SAF or ?? Glad to see women appearing on our side.

OTOH, the Million Mom March rep from CO was interesting. She wants to 'build a bridge' to the other side in this debate, and just can't understand why people are so upset. Let me tell you, lady ... look in the mirror. It is you, and people like you, who are attacking the civil rights of other Americans every damn day. Every day. And you wonder why there is so much animosity?

Buy guns. This is not going to get any better, IMHO.

Well, I watched it last night, and I actually didn't throw up over it. Either Slick has toned it down, or my iron stomach just got tougher.
Unfortunately, my VCR broke a few weeks ago, so I was scribbling like a madman.

Willie says that the importation of high capacity magazines make a mockery of the assault weapons ban.

Willie says that "the influence of the NRA is so great".

Willie says Federal prosecutions are up 16% (what..using a two year timeline?) Or would that be ALL Federal prosecutions, not just firearms prosecutions?

Willie says "You can't refuse to vote for a law just because it's not perfect". Sure we can, and we do.

Brokaw asked Slick what measures he would like to see go into effect.
1. Close the 'gunshow loophole'.
2. Safety prevention for children.
3. Ban assault weapon magazines.

Yep, it's them evil a.w. magazines. It must somehow take control of the weapon and allow it to fire of its own volition. Not.

Safety prevention for children? Ummmm....what the hell has the NRA been doing all these years?

He even said that parents should teach children to use them responsibly. He also said that he would not support a ban on handguns. Of course not, they'll just bankrupt the manufacturers, or cause firearms to be prohibitively expensive.

He stated that America has the highest murder rate, but on Fox News the other night, they stated that South Africa has a murder rate 60 times higher per capita than we do. 25,000 were murdered in one year in South Africa compared to our 11,000. Or do they not consider S.A. a real country, so ignore the statistics?

Some folks asked some hard hitting questions last night. Questions I didn't think would make it to being asked.

They also had Robin Ball from Second Amendment Sisters on. Way to go!!!!! I'll have to slip a donation their way. There was also a woman whose name I didn't catch from Women Against Gun Control.

Overall, it was far less biased than I thought it would be, but still not what I would have liked to see. But it's a start.

Tonight on MSNBC at 8 Eastern, "People Who Love Guns". Guess I'll have to hook up the TV in the basement. Wife won't give up her 'Friends' for anything! And since she lets me have my 'toys', I'm not foolish enough to ask!

Times have changed, but the nature of man hasn't. That's why I always go to AA, "Alert and Armed". :)

I did think Clinton toned it down a bit, like saying children need safety instruction. That is a tacit admission that his stealth attempt to ban handguns is failing. I would call that a real sea change.

I loved watching Clinton, our deer in the headlights, when the boy that got shot at Columbine told the President he was against closing the gunshow "loophole", and that kids need better instruction.

Way to go.

During the clinton segment:
Brokaw was blatantly biased in his position. This must have been orchestrated to not sound extremist because the people in the audience were either pro-gun or somewhat neutral. That was a surprise knowing that the whole thing was set up, so I think it was so clinton would not sound anti-gun. I did tire of hearing the chant of '500,000 felons and stalkers' denied by Brady and him taking credit for it being the cause for the reduction in crime rates, yet claiming unprecidented levels of gun violence.

In the second segment:
The antis come out. The guy from HCI was obviously for more control than what was being offered. The gun dealer explaining the firearms to Brokaw is our own worst enemy. He described:
1) a Lorcin as a Saturday Night Special and stated that it had no valid purpose. I guess low income people are not allowed to protect themselves.
2) when describing a Cobray M-11 and Intratec AB-10 he did not point out that they were as 'rapid fire' as a revolver and when Brokaw stated that they had no purpose other than to shoot people he did not challenge it.
3) did not point out how long it took Brokaw to deactivate the Taurus hammer block.
4) mentioned that the pistol grip shotgun could easily be hidden under a trench coat and failed to explain compliance with NFA '34 overall length requirements.
5) failed to mention that the Remington 11-87 is very popular with hunters when Brokaw asked if it was popular with police officers.
6) did a poor job of explaining the cosmetics of the semiauto AW ban and when Brokaw referred to them as 'assault weapons' he did not point out that they were not, but the cosmetic features had classified them as SAAW in 1994.
The gun industry rep sounded suspiciously like a member of HCI. In fairness to Brokaw he was the one that had to bring up the NRA's involvement in Project Exile in Richmond, Va. and little was mentioned of the money the NRA put into the program. the gentleman whose wife was a teacher and killed in Jonesboro, Ar was handled poorly by the only real pro-gunner on the panel. She also came across as a extremist when she claimed that she was against all gun control laws. Maybe she is against the GCA '68 provision requiring a unique serial number to be put on each gun by the manufacturer, but I doubt it.
