Kimber vs Para-Ordnance

Kimber Custom Target vs Para-Ordance P-14 Limited. Which one has better workmanship, quality, price/performance ratio? Which one is more accurate?

How about Kimber Ultra Carry vs P-10 Limited?

Four or so months ago I went to the local shop looking for a P10. I came home with a stainless Ultra Carry. The P10 was a nice looking little pistol, but the fit and finish on the Kimber seemed better. I absolutely LOVE this little pistol. I've had no failures of any kind and its proven to be capable of extremely good accuracy. I highly recommend Kimber products.

Kimber is far superior to the Paraordnance and I own both. The Kimber Custom Combat Carry Model has never jammed unlike my Para P-13 which has been very unreliable.

Are we talking about the .40 or the .45? Is there a reliability difference between the both of them? How reliable is the 40? With the kimber ultra carry how many rounds of .40 does it hold and are there aftermarket mags for them?

Thanks

Thanks

My P-13 has had hundreds extra spent on it over the initial purchase price. Titanium trigger, fitted beaver tail grip safety, 6 extra high cap mags, night sights. This was going to be the ultimate LEO duty weapon. The same size as a Colt Commander, 13 plus 1 rounds, rubber grips, night sights and the damned thing is so unreliable that you can't shoot 100 rounds without a failure to feed. Totally burned out on this high dollar POS and it stays in the gun safe, where it is safe and so am I from its sorry assed jamming ways. By the way it is .45acp. This gun is now trade goods and when the right sucker, oops I mean fish, oops I mean wannabe Para owner comes along, its history.

I've got a Kimber Custom Compact Lt. Wt. and a P13 Limited. The Kimber is prettier but the P13 Lmtd. is very well fitted and finished also and ,so far, functions a little better than the Kimber. The Kimber jams after 20 or 30 rounds w/ certain ammo (American Eagle). I think this may be from too of a chamber. When its clean, it's fine. The P13 Lmtd. has had no FTF's so far and is just a little more accurate, which could be because of its steel frame and heavier weight. So far, I really like the Para and it certainly carries more rounds in the same size pistol(8 vs. 13).
Thats my $0.02 worth.

I don't have a Kimber Custom Target, but I have a new Ultra Carry. I've fired 800-900 rounds so far, and my slide stop holds the slide open with rounds still in the mag about 1% of the time.

I just received a new slide stop from Kimber(they have a very fast turn around on repairs, so that's a plus), so I'll have to see if this fixed the problem.

I like the feel and fit of my Ultra Carry, but I just wanted to say that not all of their pistols are perfect...

I don't have any kimbers, but i have three para ordnance. i have a p-12 .45, a p-14 .40 and my all time favorite toy a p-16 limited. there is just something about those 16 round mags and this gun shoots great. i don't see how you could go wrong with a para or a kimber, but i just like the high capacity.

I think No. 6 is just talking, no disrespect meant.
The lower end Kimber has a lot nicer fit and finish than the lower end Para and therefore looks like a better pistol. The higher end Para, such as the Limited series, is more in line w/ the medium to upper line Kimbers, IMO.
Both make very good pistols and I believe the preferences are based more on personal likes than on one being vastly superior over the other. Both makers have also produced lemons that people have written in complaining about.
The comparison is not of Porches and VW's. Perhaps of Chevy's and Cadillac's at the most.

I own a P-16/40 Limited which is just about stock that I shoot in ipsc matches. This gun is very reliable and has far fewer malfunctions than most of the single stack 45's that I am competing against. My gun has a very generous chamber and will feed anything as long as it is crimped and not crazy in length. I really love this gun.
For carry I bought a Kimber stainless ultra carry. I have had many feeding problems with this gun that took a while to sort out. It is very accurate, which is kind of suprising considering the small barrel. All in all I would recommend either, but give the nod to the Para. DVC
