Kimber vs. Para Ord

I fired a friend's 2 new 45's last weekend. By the way this guy is who introduced me to The Firing Line. Thanks! One was the Kimber Compact and the other was a Springfield longslide (don't know the model.) Well, know I have the .45 bug. I want a medium to full-size frame, reliability, accuracy, with a nice trigger. (I know that is a tall order.) I am partial to the Kimbers and the Para Ord. I would appreciate some input from the experts around here as well a few suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Unless you need to carry it, stick with the full sized (5" barrel) gun. More accurate and more reliable. Don't know if your price range goes up to $850, but if it does you can get the best 1911 under $1000 going which is the STI Trojan. basically a hand-made custom with top quality parts. I love mine. I also own a Para and shoot Kimbers which are both good guns, but when you look at the STI it's like comparing Subaru to Lexus in finish, fit and quality.

ParaOrdnance has the 14 round option, and the only production 1911 with a double action trigger. If you want either of those options, go with ParaOrdnance.
I have a ParaOrdnance 14-45 LDA. It has been reliable. The Only issue I had with it is that the bushing that came with is was too large for the slide. It was terrible to field-strip. A gunsmith I spoke to was leary of the double-action trigger mechanism in a self-defense situation.
The Kimber I have is fitted better. It is accurate, and feeds everything I give it. It is my carry gun.
For home defense either is fine. For a curiosity, the LDA trigger of the ParaOrdnance is better. For carry, I like the Kimber, although ParaOrdnance does have 6 and 7 round single stack LDAs.
