Kimber Ultra CDP owners

I recently purchased and installed one of those clip-draw devices on my Ultra CDP. I love it! I don't like the bulk of an IWB holster and the melt-down treatment on the CDP along with its light weight really make this a convenient way to carry very concealed. It slips in and out of the waistband very nicely. Try it, I think you'll like it. One thing--you will have to replace the ambi safety with a right-hand only. They're only $23 from Kimber. I like the non-ambi better anyway, one less thing to snag something on and half the chance of swiping the safety off when you're carrying condition one.

Thanks for the tip. I'm currently using the Milt Sparks Mirage and like it immensely.

Agree with you somewhat about the ambi safeties. I like the idea of an ambi safety, but for the life of me I don't know why they don't offer them in non-extended versions. I've been shooting 1911s for a lot of years and I never had problems with the old standard profile.

Oh well.

I just recently bought one of the braveheart kydex IWB holsters for my kimber cdp ultra. One thing I really like about it is that it has a groove for the safety to ride in and when carrying cocked and locked, you don't have to worry about brushing the safety off. I have carried it mexican style in the cocked and locked mode but the kimber safety has a better "click" to it than my CD 1911,which I would worry about knocking the safety off of if I was carrying it without a good holster to protect it from such. The brave heart kydex has an extra measure of safety designed in it and I would recomend it for anyone that totes a 1911 cocked and locked. www.kytac.com
