kimber thumb safety

I sent my kimber back to have the thumb safety checked out. After firing the safety would "sometimes" not function.I mean you could not push it up.I got it back and it worked but it has a funny feel to it.It feels difficult to operate. Before whenever it did work it would snap into place quite easily. Now I have to use my left hand to push it up.It does not feel like it snaps into place. Is this common?

The thumb safety on a 1911 type pistol should move from one position to the other with about the same amount of force. Try a GI gun or another clone. There could be several reasons for the movement being difficult, none probably very serious. A good gunsmith should be able to fix it or you could send it back again.

It is frustrating to pay a bunch of money for a gun that does not work, then have to pay more to have it fixed or to send it back.

Had the same problem with my Gold Match. The safety doesn't snap into place, feels mushy for lack of a better term. Brian Bilby is fixing mine, I get tired of sending pistols back to Kimber.

Had the same problem. It got to the point where you could not engage the safety with either hand. Took it out. Seemed a burr developed in the detent hole. Took a dremel and polished it off. working great again.
