Kimber Stainless in .40

I posted here last week about Springfield Amrory "loaded" pistols. However, I recently looked at Kimber Stainless and was impressed with the fit/finish of the gun. I also noticed that Kimber catalogs the gun in .40 S&W. The clerk however, told me it was a limited run and they no longer made .40s.

Does anyone have anything bad to say about Kimbers(I've seen a lot of good things)? ANd do they still make the stainless in 40?

I ordered a Kimber Gold Match Stainless in .40 S&W in late November/early December of last year, and finally cancelled the order about 4-6 weeks ago. I own the gun in .45, and it is GREAT!.

I really wanted it in .40, but Kimber kept telling me that it would be "another 8 weeks". I finally got in touch with one of the guys there, and they told me that they had such a back-log of .45 ACP orders, (many thousands), that they had to put the .40 S&W's on hold. They told me that they would eventually make my gun, I just had to be patient.

The quality of the gun is great! It looks good and shoots even better. I have had zero problems shoot 230 gr ball. I load my own SWC loads pretty light for target shooting, and have had a few problems with feeding until I bought 2 Mec Gar 8-round clips, and the problem went away.

Since I can't get the Kimber Gold Match in .40 S&W, I put in an order to Les Baer for a Premier II in .40 S&W. It should be here in about 4-6 weeks, unless they same type of problem comes up!
