Kimber series II question

Has anyone seen or bought one of the Kimber Series II 1911s that is supposed to have the new type of firing pin safety? If so, I would like info on how the safety works and how the gun works in general.

Thanks

The firing pin safety mechanism is attached to the grip safety so it is deactivated when you depress it. The trigger pull is not any different from a series 70 1911.

I have a Kimber Classic Custom I and the Custom II's that I've seen and tried are not really any different. I think Kimber added the firing pin safety so we Californian's can still buy em. Hope this helps. :)

only the ones with the "II" designation...I think the main reason they built the II series weapons is so they would be legal in The People's Republic of Kalifornia.

I have been waiting for another Custom Eclipse II to show up at my local gun shop & range. They had 1 and sold it in short order. They also sold a SE II Gold match that had to have the "New Safety" disconnected .The gun was too hard to squeeze ,and would not release the grip safety. The owner showed me a fine collection of 1911 pistols he shoots regularly at the range, so I have no reason to question the problem he had with the Gold Match. I'm amazed he's quite happy with the Gold Match as it now is. For that kind of money I don't think I would be so happy. Perhaps my waiting for a new model will be worth while in getting one with the original BUGS worked out..
