KIMBER QUESTION

What is the difference between the Classic model and the Custom Classic? Are both models still in production? Thanks.

www.kimberamerica.com should just about answer your question. It sounds as if you've heard someone abbreviate the Classic Custom name to simply "Classic". The CC is Kimber's base model, full size, fixed sight 1911. I just got mine about 2 weeks ago.

The reason that I ask this question is because I bought a Kimber two months ago and it is marked "classic royal" on the slide. A buddy of mine liked it and bought one last weekend. His slide is marked "classic custom royal". His pistol has a different type of trigger and grips. I've looked at Kimber literature and at their website and only the "classic custom" is mentioned. Now I'm a little curious about it and can't find any info.

Kimber changed triggers a while ago. Not sure what grip you have but a walnut grip is optional rather than the rubber one.

Was your gun used? Or maybe it had been sitting on the gun shop's shelf for a while and in the mean time Kimber changed their model names and packages. I don't know when they might have made the changes, but there was a used gun sitting on the shelf next to the one I bought which was the same basic gun except for a few features that were different (trigger and grips come to mind).

No, it is a new gun. My buddy and I bought them off of the same dealer at the same gunshow ( but two months apart). This dealer moves a lot of inventory, so it would suprise me if he had a pistol lying around for very long.

BTW: My pistol required a little break in before becoming nearly jam free. My buddy's gun has been flawless straight from the box. They both are amazingly accurate. I have become a true Kimber fan now. Now I just need to get a second job to support the habit. Waaaaaaaagh!
