Kimber MIM Replacement Parts

Question: What parts on a Kimber Stainless Target II 10mm are MIM?

I am planning on buying some parts from Wilson Combat to swap the MIM parts out of my Kimber.

I already have an order coming to me from W.C., so I thought I would have these parts included with that order.

Not trying to start a discussion about whether or not MIM parts are good, or whether it is worth swapping them out, just want to know what parts are MIM, if anyone knows.

Thanks.

I think, in the Kinber, Almost everything. They use ALOT of MIM parts. Sorry. Gut it and replace it all with Ed Brown parts. Have the best Gun Smith you can find fit your parts. Good luck.

Pretty much all the small parts in the Kimber are MIM. Also be advised that to my understanding some of Wilson's parts are MIM.
To be on the safe side I would contact the different manufactures of parts that I intend to use and have them state what manufacturing process and the type of steel used in manufacturing their parts.
If they don't want to be up front with that information I would look for parts from another source.

+1 on Ed Brown parts. I ordered an Ed Brown slide stop to replace the broken MIM part on my Kimber, and it fits/functions perfectly.

I have a kimber custom 2, nice pistol. I have heard alot of talk about the mim. I'm sure i'd rather have solid steel parts but have there been failures of the mim parts? I haven't read of any. I have over 2,000 rounds through mine and the range that i haunt has a rental that has over 10,000 rounds through it with no problems. Maybe I have been the exception and others have kimbers that have mim failures, i would sure like to here of them.

Generally if a MIM part is going to fail it will fail early

They are very strong when they are made correctly and not worth a darn if they are not

Kind of like cast or forged parts;)

Like they said, Go with Ed Brown. I just got my ORM 1991 back today. I had it stripped to the frame/slide and Ed Brown parts installed with a C&S professional fire control group. All I can say it WOW what a difference.

"I think I will leave it alone instead"

Great decision....

More often than not it is the replacement parts that cause "issues"

I get a kick out of those people that say Brand X is no good because mine never ran good....of course they modified their brand x pistol before they even shot it...but that couldn't be it:rolleyes:

Put 1000 rounds through it and you will know where you stand

Which is good advice for any weapon...not just a 1911
