Well, my new Kimber Gold Match was extremely accurate out-of-the-box. I had 1-inch groups at fifteen yards. Fantastic!
Recoil was very tame with PMC roundball too, but I have yet to run other brands through it before my final assessment in this matter.
On the other hand, Kimber magazines leave much to be desired. I had Type One stoppages at the rate of 1 in every 3 shots (size apart, guess why this pistol ranks at the bottom of my CCW list). The mag I'm talking about even looks and feels cheesy. Someone told me to buy Wilson mags, but personally I think that's ridiculous. That one should have to "fix" or "prep" a new gun defies the logic behind the purchase. Do you need to tune up a brand new BMW? Do you need to cut and polish the rock in your wife's wedding band? Do you buy glasses from your optometrist and immediately go to another to have the lenses replaced? Nonsense! Kimber ought to clean up its act and make mags worthy of its name, not rely on its competitors for quality support.
That being told, I will conclude by saying that my overall impression of this gun was, for the money, just within the joy limit. The only thing remaining to decide is---if and when I do buy my Wilson 1911 (heh!)---whether or not I should buy Kimber mags for it
