Kimber Eclipses

What's the deal with Kimber Eclipses? THere appear to be a total of five available: Custom, Target, Pro, Pro Target and Ultra.

Which ones did they stop making? The Eclipse Customs listed for sale on the internet say they have adjustable sights, but their web page says they have fixed sights. Are they making more of these guns that supposedly were only made up until the end of last year?

Methinks you have the Kimber bug again.....

Gosh.

I should delete all those old posts of Kimber bashing.

I'm so tempted, it's so pretty. OK I admit I'm a sucker for pretty guns. I really wanted a KZ45 but I don't want to have to buy more mags and magpouches.

Still a tossup between the KZ and the Eclipse.

I was just at my Kimber dealer last night to ask him about an Eclipse, he had a monthe ago, he had sold it, but tod me they are coming out with a regular production model of the Eclipse. He said he wasnt sure what theyre calling it, but said it should be cheaper. He told me the only difference would be a regular thumb saftey instead of ambi, and no checkering on the frontstrap. He never mentioned whether or not if it was still going to be a "Custom Shop" model. When he e-mails the details. I can post it here.

Skunk, there are, in fact, two versions of the Eclipse. Basically the only difference between them is the type of site. The 'Custom Eclipse' has adustable meprolite sites. The 'Pro Eclipse' has fixed meprolites. The only difference in price between them is about $60 at list pricing.

I also heard they were turning the Eclipse into a regular production gun, and I'm PI$$ED. I bought this thing, and spent the extra money on it, thinking it was a limited run, and now they just go off and flip the switch to make it a regular model? That's messed up. According to their advertising material, the 'true' Custom Eclipses have a specialized serial number. We'll see. Anyway, I'm not too happy about it, but if it's the worse that happens this week, I'll be OK. :)

HTH.

So let me get this straight.

Kimber Custom and Pro Eclipses are put out as limited edition guns, get 'em while they last.

Everyone gets one.

Now, they are making it a production gun?!?!

I guess that makes sense, because I heard that some people's Kimber Customs have the McCormick (?) sights on them, while others have the adj. target sights.

I was confused, because the catalog says Target Eclipses have the adj. sights.

The limited ones look nice because of the ambi safety and frontstrap serrations, I gotta admit.
