Kimber Custom Mods

I'm thinking about putting a set of Wilson Tactical Combat sights on my Kimber Cutsom II and a Ed Brown Hi Ride Beavertail. Does anyone have a Pic of either of these on a Kimber custom? What kind of fitting is required if at all? Wilson has a combat sight for the Kimber. Does this mean it is drop in? I'm sure that the frame has to be blended into the beavertail since its a high-ride. How much would Kimber charge to do its black oxide finish once the BT is installed or could I get this done cheaper someplace else? Also, any opinions ot the sight? http://www.wilsoncombat.com/accessories/sights.asp

thanks

By the way...what is the black oxide finish? sounds like some kind of parkerizing.

Take a look at burnscustom.com. Beautifull custom Kimbers
w/ Ed Brown beavertails and tons more to boot. If only I had the scratch!
I had an Ed Brown Btail installed on my Kimber and while it is definately
better looking, I prefer the feel of the original part. My advice to you
would be to have a "known" talent install the beavertail, cuz tig welding
at the frame ears is nec. to do the ideal install. Check out Scott Mcdougal
& Assoc. for the checkering. They do 25lpi with a bottom border which
is great looking and functional. The 30lpi that I have had worked well, but
it definately isn't as durable as 20 lpi if your an active gunner. As far as the
often quoted complaint with holster/clothing/hand wear that I often see
regarding the 20 lpi, I just don't see that as an issue as my frontstrap
doesn't rub on my clothes or holster, so I'd disregard that. My vote: 25 lpi
with bottom border. 2nd vote: 20 lpi with bottom border. 3rd vote: none.
I've spent tons of dough on customizing my Kimbers, and have sold
all of them except my plain jane Classic Custom which was the best shooter of the bunch
even after the customizing on the others. Take care and enjoy...
