I was in the local Pawn Shop this week and I saw a new looking Kimber in the gun case. It is a Kimber Custom Shop Combat Carry Model. The gun is new, it has the following features:
1. Alloy frame with checkered front strap.
2. Stainless slide
3. Beaver tail grip safety
4. Aluminum adjustable trigger
5. Ambi extended saftey
6. Full length stainless guide rod
7. Wolf Springs
8. Flat checkered main spring housing.
9. Night sights
10.Beveled mag well
11. Chip McCormick hammer
12 Bushingless barrell

The gun had a price tag of $489.00 plus tax and I managed to get them down to $400.00 out the door. I took the gun back to the PD and ran the numbers and it came back clean. This is my 18th 1911 but my first Kimber, I have seen some of you guys on this board who seem to think rather highly of them. One of my buds had problems with his Kimber but after a few trips back to Kimber they got it right. What kind of a deal did I get on this gun. I own many Colts, two Randalls, an ODI Viking, a Para P-13, a custom Caspian framed series 70 but this is my first Kimber, are they equal to Colts? The gun will be used primarly as an off duty LEO gun...7th

dang good price that was a steal ,but yes the kimber is a great gun i have the goldmatch and it will outshoot all of my colts and paras hands down ,its a great gun!

I carry my Kimber Custom Classic off duty and think quite highly of it. over 2500 rounds without a problem. Even if you do run into a few glitches and have to send it back for service, at that price I'd say you got a good deal.

7th- If memory serves me, the list price on that puppy is about a grand, so I'd say you did good. I have a Kimber Compact in stainless that has been flawless and is very accurate, and I like it so much that I'm picking up an Ultra Carry (already named it "Short Snort") on Wednesday. congratulations on your new "baby", may she serve you well. PS - Doesn't the Combat Carry also have a meltdown treatment?

Mike yes it does have the melt down treatment, you can run your hand over the slide and everthing is smooth. It shouldn't draw blood, like a regular 1911 will if you are careless clearing a malfunction. You're right its a unique good looking pistol, I may carry it on duty, after I qualify with it. I keep a duty rig set up for a Colt Combat Commander, and this gun will work perfectly in it, no new leather to buy. :) ...7th
