Kimber Conversion Kit??

Have a Kimber Pro Carry HD. LOVE IT. To save money, and have a warm up gun, I could buy a .22 (such as a Ruger Mark II), but have considered the Kimber .22 Conversion kit. Converts it to be able to shoot .22, vice .45, and includes a whole new slide.

Then, I could shoot .22 first, or even only if I'm in the mood, and then when I go to .45, I would have a consistent weapon feel.

Cost would be about the same, at least ball park, but am interested if anyone has any knowledge of how well it works? Is it worth it?

thanks..

We have one and like it just fine. My wife prefers to "warm-up" with the gun in .22 and then do .45. The conversion allows you to practice with the same grip and trigger feel, but the gun will be considerably lighter and recoil virtually non-existant.

Ours is plenty accurate for plinking. The .22 conversion also makes it easy to teach another about the mechanics of the 1911 and how it shoots without the recoil that many newbies find frightening.

If you don't have a need for another gun, then get the conversion. If you have a need for a .22 in additional to your .45, then buy a .22 gun (like a Ruger MII or such).

Do a search here and on 1911forum (when it gets up and running again) using terms like ".22 conversion" and you will find a goodly amount of information.

Thanks Double Naught Spy

Your info is exactly what I needed. And yes, I would want it for warm up, and then be able to stay consistent on grip, weight, and trigger.

Hadn't thought about the benefit of breaking "newbies" in with the 1911 without the recoil!!

Appreciate the help.
