Hello all,
I’m considering buying either a Kimber compact or Ultra Carry for use as my main carry gun. I currently carry a full sized Kimber and am having a couple concealment problems. First, the slide is just a little too long. When seated the muzzle rests against my chair, which causes a little discomfort. I’ve decided either I need a bigger bottom (not my first choice since my current one is plenty large), or I need a slightly shorter slide. Second, the grip is just slightly too long and prints. A compact would be about perfect to alleviate both of these problems. Since most parts, accessories, and holsters use Colt 1911 versions for sizes, I’m a little confused with interchangability between the two brands. Please correct any mistakes.
Kimber Classic = Colt Government
Kimber Pro Carry = Colt Commander (4.25" barrel, full sized frame)
Kimber Compact = Colt Commander Slide with Officers Frame (4.25" barrel, shortened frame)
Kimber Ultra Carry = Colt Defender
Thank you for your help.
