Kimber 84 or Rem 700 LTR?

I'm thinking of getting either a Kimber 84 in .308 or a Remington 700 LTR in .308. I'll be using the rifle for both hunting and long range target shooting. Which rifle would be better suited for both disciplines? Is the 700 LTR more inherintly accurate due to its heavier fluted barrel or can I expect the Kimber to be as accurate out to 300-400yds? I'm leaning towards the Kimber due the lighter weight and its pleasing asthetics but I don't want to give up any accuracy.

The LTR will surely give you the edge in competition because the barrel will cool down quicker than the 84's thinner barrel. You'll be able to hunt with it just the same as the Kimber. The Kimber will serve great in the hunting field but I wouldn't really want to try to do too much long range shooting with it. But then again...the Kimber looks nicer ;)

Thanks..that's exactly my dilemma. I'm just wondering if the LTR is any more accurate than the Kimber or similiar rifle or is the heavier fluted barrel really more accurate.

Given the fact that the kimber 84 is a positive feed claw extractor rifle and has a sear block safety its the Kimber all the way Good luck finding one!!! I've had one on order from kimber since the last shot show were it was intrduced 8 months now!! P.S. how many of you guys have seen the remington safety fail I've personaly witnesed two remington A.D.C's both of wich occured with the safety being flipped off and no the finger was nowhere near the trigger.

I'd get the Rem 700 Tactical for the uses you plan.

High priced sporters don't hold their value and probably won't be as accurate.
