Does anyone know much about Kim Ahrends and his work, especially on hi-powers? He does not advertise and I have seldom heard anything about his work (though I like the grips), but his backlog is at least a couple of years according to his assistant. I've heard about a picture (by Ichiro Nagata, of course) and an article about one of his hi-powers from several years ago but can't locate the magazine to get a look. Anyone have any informations?

I have that AH mag from several yrs back where they were giving away his custom HP. Very sharp looking, got a special variance from the ATF to move the sn# from frontstrap so he could checker it. I talked with him last year about working on a HP of mine... waiting list running around 4-5 years or so. Went with Kurt Wickmann instead.

I'll scan the pic (gotta find it first) and email to you if you want. lemme know.

Hi hdm25:
Kim Ahrends disassembled/assembled a P7M8, prepared the metal finish and had it titanium plated by TiGold. This was at least ten years ago. I found him very pleasant to deal with. He is a wonderful craftsman.

Best,

Jeff

I have only dealt with him and his ssistant, wife,on grips. I know the grips will hold their own with any made but I would not hesitate to deal with them. This couple strike me as a class act. I should also say I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Wayne Novak, Bill laughridge, or Kurt Wickmann. Regards, Richard.
