My son reciently got back from Basic/AIT and decided to take my M-70 257 Rbts out for a little hunting. Good neck shot.

Why so much blood though?

I wasnt there, apparently when he shot it in the neck it gushed like it was hog stuck, plus the mess when he loaded it into the pickup. I can't complain it was his first hunt alone.

Haha I understand. Last year was my first time to gut and carry out a deer. No dads help with anything. Just my friend and I hunting. I couldnt of done a worse gutting job, with missing the upper chest parts and the dull knife didint help. Im 16, so close to your son.

great job guys. Tell your son THANK YOU for CHOOSING to serve. GOD BLESS him.

For the dull knife - we all learn. If you get a chance, buy a lansky sharpener. You can make a dull knife shave in less then 5 minutes with one. Takes some getting used to, but they work great, and fit nice in a pack. I refuse to gut an animal w/ a dull knife. you can cut yourself or rather stab yourself quicker with a dull one than a sharp one.

Please tell your son thanks for his service, and a BIG CONGRATS on his goat! It's great to see our kids out there sharing the shooting and hunting sports!

Nice... So, just back from AIT, does that mean he is an 0311 (or whatever the army equivalent is)? Crazy how young the young "guns" look aint it? Pic reminds me of southwest Wyoming, is that where you are from?

Oh, Craig, I've been meaning to ask. Did you retire from the Army in 1978 or is that when you were a marksmanship instructor?

Every so often I start to miss home... Better hunting for the average Joe who can't afford a super cub every year. Thanks for the memories.

No sir, I was in the Alaska National Guard in 1978, I retired in 1992. In 78 I coached the AKNG Rifle Team and took over the Marksmanship unit in 1986 until retiring. How ever from 1978 - 92 I did training running Sniper and machine gun schools for the NG, RA, and LE. Did the orginal rifle training for our depts SWAT team (we called them CRT).

So I retired from the NG (reserve) in 92, and APD in '94.

Now I'm just an old has been.

The kid pictured does shoot high power and did before he joined the WYNG.
