For those of you who own a Kahr PM 9, do you have any trouble getting the first round to feed? My PM 9 is completely flawless but for an occasional problem getting the first round to feed. It is on of the few guns I have owned that has never had FTE. I have tried to release the open slide on a full mag and also, sling shot the slide. It does not happen often but is is annoying when it does.
 
Occasionally a few times when new using the 7-round magazine, not sure why.

The 7-rounders are problematic, I sent mine to Kahr and they sent back a 6-round in its place.

I've heard that sling-shotting it is a no-go, always use the slide release.

Also, after filling the magazine, tap the back of it against your other palm to be sure the bottom of all rounds are set back where they belong.
 
Always load a new mag with the slide locked open and use the slide release.

How many rounds do you have through it?

I can slingshot my CW9, but it's not a CM9. They get better with age, though.
 
I ordered the Wolff +10% mag springs when I bought mine some years back. That and only used the slide lock/release on the first round and I never had an issue after that.
 
No problems here PM-9 and CM-9 all ammo ex steel case. I always use the slide release and keep em clean! Luv my Kahr's!
 
No problems here with a CM9.

I avoid the 7-round mags for the PM9/CM9 pistols, not because of feeding problems, but because of the ridiculously flimsy baseplate design.

It's no fun having your pistol puke all the ammo out of the bottom of the magazine on the range (or anywhere else).
 
No problems with my CM9 but I am using the standard 6 rounders. Just remember break in is a little more important with these smaller firearms than their bigger counter parts.

The 9mm poly Kahrs (PM9, CW9, CM9) tend to be very reliable for the vast majority of owners.

These are popular pistols, that in one form or another, have been on the market for quite a few years and made in great numbers. Much like Glock kabooms, isolated problems get exaggerated by the sheer number of pistols out there. For example, Kahr typically manufactures more pistols per year (based on the ATF's annual manufacturing reports) than brands like Colt, Walther, CZ, and many others. And almost all of their products are of the same basic design.

When you do hear of problems, note that an inordinate amount of them are linked to the .40SW & .45ACP pistols.

One thing about the magazines that Dashunde pointed out is the tendency for that last round you load to push forward in the magazine before inserting it into the pistol. The other issue being the sling shot chambering that Kahr advises against doing.
I am still patiently waiting for that can or usual temperemental issue that is suppose to happen. 600 rounds through so far and not a single fail to anything.....hey, maybe 601 will get me..:D
 
Use the slide release as mentioned above. Mine jammed regardless so I got rid of mine because I couldn't trust it.
 
My PM9 is of the old style slide, I bought it new about 2010. It ran perfectly from the start, but when I got to about 1100 rounds, it failed to feed two 115 gr gold dots in the same magazine. I talked to Kahr about it and they recommended a new recoil spring around 1000-1500 rounds just to be sure. I replaced the outer spring and it never happened again. I did after that time decide that I would stick to 124 grains, and it has remained perfect.

Never had any issues with first round charging from either 6 or 7 round mags. It's my go-to lightweight and small carry gun. i have heard of 7 round mags giving some folks trouble but mine never has.
 
My CM9 needed a trip back to the factory to fix a failure to return to battery problem. It has been 100% since I got it back. The CM9 is my 11th Kahr and the first one I had any problems with. I have owned Kahrs in 9mm, 380 and 45acp. I still own a CT9 and a TP45 as well as my Cm9.
 
My Kahr PM9 has been my dedicated carry gun for many years now. I had several FTFs in the first 200 hundred rounds and no problems since. It's flawless. Mine feeds fine using the slide release or slingshotting. Major
 
You can sling-shot, you just have to do it correctly. You must pull your off hand back until it comes off the slide. Your off-hand should not be in contact with the slide while it is moving forward. This is true of all pistols. SOme are more tolerant of incorrect form, but correct form and best practice is to release the slide completely, not "ride it forward."

But, I bet once you learn to use the slide release you will never mess with sling-shotting again. Much faster and easier.
