Keymod or Magpul Mounts for Rails

I am putting together an AR15 upper and have noticed several of the slimmer handguards use Keymod or Magpul mounting systems by which to attach rails. As I do a variety of testing involving various scopes and external battery units, having some versatility would be an advantage.

Can somebody explain to me what the advantages would be to either system, distadvantages, etc? Is one easier to use? Is not not as secure?

The advantage of the magpul system is that it is the magpul system. Even if technically inferior, it will probably win out because there almost certainly isn't a huge gap between the two systems.

I'm looking at them also and that is my decision anyways.

I don't understand why they won't just pt a rail on the top of the handguard and the slots all around. Who doesn't like a full length top rail?
