Bernard Kerrick withdrew his name from consideration for the Homeland Security Chief post. I thought he was a good pick. Anybody know what went wrong ? Who's gonna pick up the nod now ?
 
Nannygate, leftover from the Clinton years.

Figured this guy had something in his past the dems could pounce on. He is from NYC after all,everyone from NYC is a crook :rolleyes:

He is just a JBT with connections.
 
Nanny gate, had a warrent for unpaid bills on a condo I believe, and last but not least something to do with ties to selling stun guns to homeland security. Kind of a conflict of interest.
 
He looked in his closet and found skeletons !! More than just the nanny. What hypocracy,just one more who wants illegals so they can have cheap slave labor !! And he would have guarded our borders !! :mad:
 
Even if it were only a nannygate scenario, which it isn't, that should be sufficient.
The whole untaxed nanny thing was a tactic started by Republicans, even though many of them were guilty of the same. If a tactic is fair game for you to use, it is fair for others to use against you.
Also, Kerik had politica ambitions before this year. He had the time to clean up any tax problems and do a strenuous background investigation on himself to see what would shake loose. The fact that he didn't prepare himself adequately for this says a lot.
The fact that the White House did not do sufficient research before announcing a candidate says much about them too. The information about the warrant and conflicts of interest should have been easy to find. It certainly seems to have been for reporters.

I'm curious what kind of dirt is found.
 
Seems that Psycho's right on this one. Apparently there's not enough buckets to haul all of the sh!t that this guy was/is into...including mob connections.
I wonder who is gonna get whacked in the Bush camp for suggesting this hump. Isn't he Gulliani's boy?
 
Yes, he was nominated at Guillani's recommendation. That would be ignoring the real problem of not having done research on the guy. Reporters found this stuff on him in a week - you would have hoped the Whitehouse thought it important enough to do the same.
 
The real funny is for years the media in NYC ignored his little lapses. Now that he gets nominated by Bush they're all over it. Bernie was never any good but got a pass especially after 9/11 when real cops & firemen died. Rudee & Bernie made millions on their deaths. Poetic justice for the both of them.

There was a lot of weeping and the unpacking of bags in NYC over the weekend. ;) Ray Kelly, a Klinton boy all the way is doing his happy dance of course. Shortsighted as no NYPD empty suit at 1 Police Plaza will be considered for anything higher than house gang on Rikers for a long time, re Baltimore. More poetic justice. :D
 
Why doesn't George just appoint Sandy Berger. The "democrats" wouldn't protest - and Berger would suit the task at hand under George Bush as aptly as anyone else.
