Kel-Tec PMR 30?

I'd say you were getting the better of that deal by far, assuming a .22 magnum pistol with 30 round capacity is something you're interested in.

I don't know this for a fact, but things I've heard on Youtube....is that it's hard to load up all 30 rounds after say 15 rds in. I also heard that it is very picky with the type of ammo. 9mm ammo is def cheaper in price than 22 mag ammo.
The Kel Tec seems like it's a very cool pistol though.

I haven't had any trouble with any of the ammo I pick up at walmart or academy(when its in stock), but I can't speak for anyone else. As to being hard to load the mags, yeah thats kind of to be expected fitting 30 rounds into a pistol magazine. Just be patient and don't get into a rush.

I don't know where you pick up your 9mm so cheap, but the last time I bought .22 magnum I got it for $8 a box. Ammo availability is the issue rather than price.

It's hard to load more than 25 or 26 rounds, but it can be done. Twenty-five seems like plenty when I'm shooting at the range. There are good instructions in the manual about how to load the mags which, I suspect, many of the folks having problems have yet to read.

Kel-Tec gives you a list of rounds to avoid. I bought mine after a long wait, and because the place where I picked it up had some .22 WMR ammo, I bought several boxes -- before I found and read the "avoid" list. I later learned that the stuff I bought was a no-no according to K-T. That said, three boxes shot perfectly. (That was Fiocchi 40gr, and they also say don't use Armscor 40 gr. That came in a sheet in the manual.)

Mine has been trouble-free. The only problems I've had is finding ammo -- especially .22 wmr designed for handguns (rather than rifles, as is the case with MOST .22 wmr ammo.) I've since picked up several boxes of Hornady Critical Defense for the shorter-barreled guns.

Great little gun, and one my wife enjoys shooting. No recoil. Lots of noise, but we have hearing protection for that. And it shoots like a LASER.

The only thing irritating is that it costs about the same as shooting a centerfire handgun, because the ammo tends to be very expensive.

There is such a thing as a great kel tec. I've shot a boring number of trouble free rounds through my sub2k.

I love my pmr.

I've had a p-11, a pf9, a p3AT, a 9mm Sub-2000, a .40 Sub-2000, and a PMR-30.

I didn't like the P-11 trigger, tried a P3AT. Mine shot well, but the trigger guard design jammed my trigger finger, and the similar LCP didn't, so I went the LCP route. The PF9 had a much better trigger than the P-11 and kept it until I later replaced it with a Ruger SR9c, which I like a lot more.

The Sub-2000 in 9mm, (mine used S&W mags) was a fun gun, and I later decided to play with something else. I later got a sub-2000 in 40, but found the .40 version (mine used Glock mags) much less fun, as I found the .40 recoil less friendly.

I've shot the PMR-30 a little, maybe 300-400 rounds, and it's been rock solid and very pleasant. Reliable, thus far, and very accurate. My wife, who is very recoil-sensitive, likes it a lot. Almost no recoil!

I've never had a single problem with any of the Kel-Tec products I've owned.

Too, you can't recoup anything (spent brass) by reloading.

I bought a PMR30 when the price dipped below $400. It has turned into one of the most fun guns I own.:D I've shot every brand of ammo I could find and all worked, though there is a remarkable difference between them. Armscor is real crap.

Only the last few rounds are harder to load. I load to the full 30 sometimes, sometimes to 25 depending on my mood.

As to trade value, that's up to you and what you have invested in the Glock.

Ammo is still not found in huge amounts. I got tired of hunting and bought a 2000 round case of CCI on-line.

Looks like a toy, feels like a toy... only the loud report and large flash fireball give it away as a real gun. Lots of fun. ;)

True... but 1) I don't reload, and 2) I have the same problem with any .22 ammo I shoot. I just wish that .22 WMR was cheaper.

The PMR-30 puts on a great "sound and light" show!! :D

Had no problems loading 30 rounds, no misfires ever. Trigger like a European target pistol. Very accurate. Wear good muffs!

I'm agreeing with you-ergo the "too"; which makes .22 Magnum ammunition even more expensive to shoot, theoretically, because you can't salvage the brass to reuse.

If you don't reload -- and a lot of folks DON'T reload -- .22 or .22 WMR (or the other variants) all cost us an "extra" expense like that experienced when using ANY other ammo. That doesn't make your point less true, but it does make it less relevant for many of us.

I love my pmr 30. Load the mags the way the owners manual says and it works great. I go back and forth about carrying the 22mag for self defense. It is fun to shoot and easy to carry.

The ballistic tests I've seen of the PMR-30 firing self-defense rounds designed for handguns (for shorter barrels rather than long barrels of rifles), and the rounds perform very similarly to most .380 SD rounds -- and you've got a LOT more rounds to hit what you're aiming at...

I've continue to carry a small 9mm semi-auto for self-defense, but if pash came to shove, I wouldn't feel at a great disadvantage using a PMR-30, loaded with Hornady SD rounds. I find the gun among the easiest handgun I've owned to hit what I'm aiming at...
