just out of general curiosity: Why does the PLR22 something resembling a gas tube above the barrel when it is obviously a blowback operated gun?

haha thanks, so I reckon maybe it's a combination of both - looks more AR15ish, and since it's been retained anyway for that reason, why not stuff the recoil spring in...

How does it work from the front of the bolt?
Any design schematics? Or videos?
Sounds like a unique design

Recoil drives back the bolt. Front of bolt is connected to recoil guide.
Rearward motion of bolt compresses recoil spring. Decompression drags guide/bolt back into battery. Like I'd said, wonky...
