Kel-Tec P40 Problems

I tried out a new Kel-Tec P40 today. It jammed about every other shot - cartridges would jam on the feed ramp - manually retracting the slide and releasing would generally feed the round. I tried it with Winchester FMJ and Fiochi JHP ammo with the same results. I was surprised because the P11 9mm I bought a few months ago has always worked reliably. Any suggestions? I plan to return the barrel and slide to Kel-Tec for the hard chrome upgrade, so maybe that will resolve the problem.

I would polish the feed ramp on the barrel you
get back from KT. Maybe do the hammer/slide interface
too.

Try the Kel-Tec owners webpage http://ktog.org, I believe that they document a problem with the lips of the magazine which cause this very problem.

I had the same problem with my P-40 conversion kit. They claimed to have fixed it, but the same thing happened. They then claimed I was limp-wristing it. I wasn't. Finally, they sent me a .40 magazine which has different shaped lips, and it works much better.
