KEL TEC owners - how did I do?? Please advise!

After getting my hair cut last night, I wandered into one of my favorite gun shops that I don't often get to anymore. Just intended to say hello, buy some cheap .45ACP reloads & be on my way. But I always have to examine the shelves of new & used handguns. I've been looking for a nice used .41 or .44 S&W "pre-agreement" revolver at the right price. Didn't see any & was about to leave when I spotted the P-32.

It was in the used handgun case, came complete with the box, rug, & manual. It's blue over black & looked to be in good shape (how do you tell on these anyway?).

He was asking $190, I managed to pick it up with plastic for $180. I could have got a few more $$ off if I had enough cash on me. But, since we are an instant check state & I don't get over there often, I whipped out my card & took it home.

I haven't cleaned it up (the dealer test fired it) or shot it yet. Any comments on this little gun? It disappeared in the back pocket of my jeans! Is there anything I should look for, or lookout for? How do you (or did you) like yours? This is my first "plastic" gun, I'm a metal man an heart but this little gun really caught my eye!

We have a pair of the P32, his & hers models. Mine is the chrome one, hers is the black one like you have. Nice little guns, and $180 is a very decent price for a used one. Keltec has a lifetime warranty on the gun, so if there's a problem, give them a call.

The P32 is my wife's carry gun (her purse is heavy enough already without a 30 ounce auto in it). It works flawlessly now, after we sent it back to Kel-Tec for an extraction problem that I probably could have fixed by polishing the chamber. We love it. It's not a target gun, but at mugger ranges it will do the job. Cor-Bon is about the hottest .32 ammo, though I have heard that Fiocchi JHPs are almost as fast. Get the belt clip, it's handy.

If your gun is in good shape, you got a deal.

And another useful site or two...

There is a specific room for P32 owners. It's kindof a small group, but you'll find lots of opinions on carry methods, holsters, upgrades, etc...

www.hedleyholsters.com
This is the holster a lot of P32 owners SWEAR by. I have one, and it's a beauty, but I haven't been able to get used to switching the wallet to another pocket. After 20+ years with the wallet in that spot, I've almost pulled a gun out at the register a couple of times

Then get an Uncle Mike's #1 pocket holster, cut the string on the "flap" to hold a spare mag (which you'll have to buy) and you'll be just like the rest of us.

Also, for $20 + MEGA shipping charge, the Kel-Tec factory will swap your blued slide for a chrome one... :) Of course, some guys have found that swapping the slide on a perfectly good pistol has turned up a lemon on occasion...

You won't be sorry, and if ANYTHING doesn't work on it, just call Kel-Tec and they'll tell you how to fix it, or ask you to send it back and they'll fix it!!!

Congrats!

You did very good on the price. :)

The P32 is the simplest little pistol I've ever seen. Be sure to keep it clean and lubricated, but not too lubricated. Winchester Silvertips work very well, and provide you with about the best knockdown power you can expect with a .32ACP. I have had rounds get stuck at the top of the magazine a couple of times, so I cycle them out and reload the magazine at least once a week. I haven't noticed that problem again for a while now.

It's a self-defense weapon, not a target pistol. I carry mine in my pocket and nobody can tell it is there. Heck, it is so lightweight, I can barely tell it is there. I carry it as my sumer gun, when I have to dress light because of the heat and humidity. :barf:

Kel Tec sells a factory 10 round magazine for the P32. It makes the grip about an inch longer. I don't have one myself, but I'm thinking about getting one. They cost a little over $20, I think.

Onslaught,

The Don Hume holster I use for my P32 is almost like that middle one on the Hedley page, except the leather on the part of the holster that isn't directly touching the gun (don't quite know how to explain this) doesn't form a perfect rectangle. It sticks out just as far on the bottom, but the top of it forms a "hook" shape. The idea is that the "hook" in the leather will catch the edge of your packet as you are drawing. The holster stays in your packet and you've effectively drawn the gun with one-hand.

Well, heck, let me see if I can find a picture for you. I'm sure my description isn't doing anything here...

And they have one made for the P32.

Well

I got mine brand new (actually it had been dry-fired once) for 100 bucks. But that was sort of a once in a life-time deal...:D

and in addition..

don't forget mag finger extensions available from NAA (slight modification needed info at KTOG site), 2 for 10.00 + 2.50 shipping-and Agrip of course.:)

Friends, thanks for all the comments & pointers. Last evening, I took the little gun out to my backyard & shot it at a scrap piece of 1x2 I had propped up by a tree. At about 8 to 10 yards I was able to drill the board with some cheap FN ammo I picked up for my PP.

I've visited some of the KTOG sites & joined the mailing list. I'll have to decide on a pocket holster; while I would think carry without a holster would work it may be hard on the pockets themselves. I see a lot of chatter about "fluff & buff", I'll have to take a closer look at that topic - but if it runs, no need to mess with it IMHO.

So...I guess I'm grinning with this purchase! :D

Thanks again!
