Kel-Tec/Grendel Misfires

I had a new Kel-Tec P-11. It misfired a lot. I have second-hand Grendel P-12 with perhaps 100 rounds through it. It misfires a lot.

Is there some solution to this or is Kel-Tec/Grendel just a lousy gun?

Pardon the double post.

Thanks.

Hey Woodit,

What do you mean by "misfire"?

Do you mean:
1) fails to go bang when you press the trigger;
2) fails to eject a fired round;
3) fails to cycle the next round;
4) slide locks back on a loaded magazine;
5) goes off by itself;
6) stovepiping of the bullet;
...etc.

If you can explain your experience, I think someone here can figure out your problem.

What is "new?" I have a P-11 with a serial number of 115XXX and I've never had a problem with it (over 1500 rounds). Some earlier numbers suffered from QC problems, but I've heard good things about the one manufactured more recently.

woodit,

Clean it.

Lube it.

Shoot it.

If P-11s "misfire" (interpreted as any type of jam or cycling failure), chances are they're dirty and dry. Until they're broken in, you'll be happier with too much grease and oil rather than too little. You can always clean your shooting glasses, ear protection, and wash your clothes after you get home and take a shower.... :D

Re: P-12: Cleaned it; lubed it; tried to fire it. Same problem. Must pull trigger 1-4 times each for a round to fire. Some don't fire at all. Had same problem with new P-11. (Rounds fire ok in other weapon).

sounds like firing pin not hitting primer hard enough, check striker..:eek:

I purchased a Grendel .380. First trip to the range, it jammed a round in the chamber, took the range officer's help to extract it. Sent it back to Grendel, they sent it back "fixed," the next trip to the range i inserted a mag with 2 rounds in it, hit the slide release and the pistol slam-fired on me, jamming the second round in the chamber. SAME range officer helps with it again.

Lemme see if my aim is correct:

:barf:
