Kel tec 9mm

Its tearing me up-i can't decide whether to get one or not.I'm undecided on its trigger although i believe it would be very uncomfortable to shoot without the trigger shoe. Its the only gun i ever pulled the trigger on and heard a pppppppiiiiiiinnnnnnnggggg!

Early ones required some polishing, etc. for reliability. New ones seem to be ok. Very light weight, 10 rounds of 9mm, slimmer than a Glock, can be carried with a belt clip IWB. As accurate as you need for self-defense. There's a lot to like.

Has a very heavy trigger. I added the optional trigger shoe which helped the perceived pull a lot.

Go to www.ktog.org for lots of great info.

I'm wearing one on my ankle right now.

10 + 1 9mm in a very small package.

Mine has been very reliable, but it takes some work to learn to shoot it with the long DAO trigger.

Also, get a mag shoe with a finger hold, the large trigger cover, and a belt clip.

I use my belt clip in my Uncle Mike's ankle holster, rather than the thumb break. It works well.

I have had only on FTF out of about 900 rounds. It was my son limpwristing it.

It does recoil rather strongly.

Practice with it. Carry it......

Cheers

The trigger is not all that heavy, supposed to be 8.5 - 9 lbs., but it is very long. Very similar to a double action revolver trigger.
The trigger shoe and grip extender are nice accessories to get, I have both for mine.

Comes in blue, parkerized & chrome. Chrome offers excellent rust protection. If you can't fine chrome or if there is a significant price difference between chome and blue, get a blue one and then send the slide, barrel & assembly pin to KT and they'll swap these parts for a chrome for just $20.00. You cand send these parts by regular mail. KT pays return shipping so order accessories when you do this.

See KT's site for other P-11 accessories:

Here's a site with good Kel-Tec info. and other guns:

I've had my P-11 for 3 months now and for me the major appears are; reliable, safe, mag capacity, size & power. Its a 380 pistol in size with a 9mm luger punch. The design is simple and the price is way less than $300. I've wanted to get Kel tec's P-32 but I can not justify using a slightly smaller pistol at the expense of a much less powerful 32 auto.

Slightly smaller? Surely, you jest!

Make a cardboard cutout that's 3-1/2" x 5". That's the profile size of a P-32. Empty, it weighs 6.6 ounces, and fully loaded, it weighs 9.7 ounces versus about 22 ounces for a fully loaded P-11 (which weighs about 14 ounces empty).

A P-32 compared to a P-11 is like the P-11 compared to a full size 1911.

Somebody said it, and many agree that a P-32 is the gun you take when you have to go unarmed. That tiny sucker disappears wherever you conceal it! It really is wallet size, and works perfectly as pocket carry in a suit coat inside pocket, front, or rear pocket. Eight rounds of .32 beats no rounds of something else.

I've got both, and when I can dress (hot climate) to carry the P-11, there's no reason not to have the P-32. And when I can't dress comfortably for the P-11, there's no reason not to have the P-32.

The P-32 is also a great point shooter, and I think it's even better than the P-11 (which is a GREAT point shooter for me) because its light weight and small size make handling instantaneous. Quick and easy presentation will be a total surprise to a BG, and if you're at the intimate distances the gun lends itself to, hitting an eye socket, neck, etc., is easy.

If mugged at gunpoint, when I hand over my wallet, it will be my KT P-32 wallet.... Around here, armed muggers seem to feel obligated to shoot.

Watch a woman pull a P-11 sized pistol out of concealment in, for example, her purse. She aligns her arm and wrist to get a decent grip on it, and if you've got half a brain, you KNOW she's not getting a wallet. For that she just casually reaches in and pulls it out. Watch the same woman pull a P-32 from the same place. She handles it just like her wallet because it's so easy to grasp and handle.

i had the 40 caliber and it was a good little gun. there were some reliability issues at first, but after a little polishing they went away.

i think that kel-tec has a good design and a good product and it wouldn't mind owning a 9mm sometime down the road. the 40 is just a little much in a gun that size so i traded it away. but i wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

For a 32 auto or even a 380 auto I do believe the P-32 would be near the top of a long list. I've shot a friend's P-32 several times and I do admire the little thing but it's shortcomings compared to the P-11 and other like type pistols are still serious. The P-11 can be aimed as well as pointed, the P-32 can only be pointed as the sights don't permit accurate aiming. The 9mm luger is about 50% more effective than the 32 auto, this shortcoming is often justified by stating that a P-32 (or any mouse gun) is better than nothing, the same can be said for carrying a knife or screwdriver. The P-32 and Seecamps represent the extreme in small design, however the bottom line is the effectiveness of the cartridge it fires, not the convenience of concealed carry. Generally in the past the only valid argument for effective use of 32's and such is multiple hits and bullet placement (head , heart, ect.) I don't believe this argument can be applied with the P-32 or other low powered mouse guns at any distance beyond 10 feet or so. Yes you will hit the assailant but you probably won't stop him and at less than 10 feet and coming you are in a world of hurt. The 60% stoping power rating some 32 ammo is given sounds impressive but for my own self protection at 10 feet or less I want as close to 100% stopping power as possible. I will compromise at 90% stopping power for the P-11, no less. ;)

KelTec? Pull the trigger on a Glock sometime

Yes, that is the distinctive sound of a true full double action semi auto. The round in the pipe didn't go off? Pull da trigger again; not too many semi autos can do that.

Dry-fire any Glock sometime. Instead of the "piinnnnngggg" sound from the Kel-Tec, you get a tinny "Plink."

Seriously though, I've owned both the P11 and t he P32. Both are amazing guns. I've heard the newer P11's are better in quality control than the earlier ones. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. For close-up fire power, capacity, and concealment the P11 is hard to beat.

I have a newer serial numbered P11 (114XXX). It's been 100%
reliable, it's accurate and not near as punishing to shoot for me
as it seems to be for others. I did the fluff-n-buff and trigger job
(because I love doing that stuff, NOT because it needed it) and
polished the feed ramp and barrel. Added a steel guide rod,
trigger shoe and finger rest mag-pad. At this point, after firing
500+ rounds of various ammunition , I am quite pleased with my
purchase.

Only "odd" thing to this super compact 9mm is when I shoot it
for accuracy, slow fire, I perform about average for my abilities.
When I conduct combat drills, I shoot rather well. Just goes to
prove 2 things; (1) point or instinctive shooting does work, and
(2) the weight of the trigger pull means very little with the
addition of stress (even if it's artificial stress).

Now if I could just find a good holster for it w/o having to spend
a ton of money. Fobus claims their belt slide version will be out
in June, so I am holding out for one of them.

Great Holster I made Pager Pal Style

I made this holster for IWB it is completly concealed with a tucked in shirt. I had never worked with leather before. It's not hard to make. It attachs to my Star Tac phone clip. Works Great. Email me at wing@pemp.net for the directions and pattern.

The only thing I hate worse than an IWB holster is a
pocket holster. I want my gun on my hip where it's
meant to be. The only candidates I have found thus
far is the Don Hume J.I.T., Bianchi Minimalist, Bianchi
Accumold and the Fobus Paddle. With any luck the
belt slide Fobus will be out soon or I will probably just
get a Wildnerness Zip Slide.

"It is great for CCW, but it is not much of a joy to shoot."

I disagree. My trigger has smoothed out nicely, and I shoot it for fun all the time. Once shot it at 100 yards, and impressed myself, sorta. Hit a 2X3 metal sigh (junk real estate sign) 8 or 9 out of 10. Can't remember. Anyway, I consider it a fun plinker. Besides, it'll likely be with me whenever I go to shoot...
