Keeps me busy

Well, yes, and from what I've heard, I would not bet my life on that pistol if I were you. I'm sure any minute now many will swarm down on you and your choice of Hi-Point. They don't have what you'd call a good reputation.

I don't know anything about HiPoints except what I have heard... and I don't like to rely on hearsay. Since you are the first person I have seen who owns one;

Is it your first pistol?
Why did you chose that particular brand and model?
What do you think of it?
Would you reccomend one to someone else?

Well

Is it your first pistol?
Pistol, yes, I have fired a few but this is the first one I have owned and I also own the Hi-Point JC40 .40S&W

Why did you chose that particular brand and model?
Well I did go thru a lot of looking on the internet and to a lot of shops and of course price was a biggie and I wanted to make sure I really wanted in on this gun thing. I went with the 9mm first because ammo was available evrywhere and very cheap.

What do you think of it?
Not having own any mid or hi priced handgun I have learned to handle the Hi-Points quiet well, they are heavy as I do carry CCW, Condition 3, but for accuracy and feeding most ammo I am very very pleased for only $120.00 for the 9mm.
Just unlike most every one else there are no real add on's but thats what you get for $120.00

Would you reccomend one to someone else?
I would very much so, only if that person jas very big shoulders, which I do, and can stand the ribbin you get from most gun owners, but it gets real quite when you go out with your buddys and shoot when with there $500.00 or so guns and they play with FTE's or FTF's and they watch you just continue too shoot......lol......

And I have depended on my 9mm for protection and it did not fail me in my need.

Ya see, Tony, there's something you just don't understand. Everybodys opinion and hearsay about YOUR gun is just so much more trustworthy than your actual experience with it. So just throw the damn thing in the trash, and buy something else. ;)

Well

Well Harbinger
I thought about that , and truthfully I am looking at an HP clone, just cuz I can buy little goodies, but the dang Hi-Points that I HAVE shoot so darn good, I just cant seem to do that, even though I know I'm wrong and evrybody else is right....lol

My 9MM compensator and my JC40 both shoot for me, very well, when I can shoot either gun from 20' away walking sideways, walking backwards, walking forwards shoot 3 from the mag drop mag while still walking and load another mag with 3 in her and hit my target 5 out of 6 times on a consistant basis, and oh yes the target is a 4" paper pie plate, then I feel I have done very well for my self owning these guns.

I have a broken watch that's right twice a day. That doesn't mean I can count on it, just like I wouldn't count on a hi-point. If yours works for you, more power to you.(You're going to need it.):p :D

I have a highpoit carbine and if you want to come and shoot your high dollor carbine aganst my CHEEP HIPOINT CARBINE

The story on the Hi-Points is this:

-The carbines are fun, accurate little shooters. Not perfect (my friend has one), but fun to shoot. (I'd rather have a Kel Tec Sub-2000, but it costs more.)

-The pistols, however, are another story. They're one of the very few full size blowback pistols chambered for service cartridges. Most blowback pistols are in .380 or less.

The more powerful cartridge using a blowback operation (as I understand it) necessitates the huge, blocky slide.

At any rate, don't think that most TFLers look down on inexpensive firearms. The owners of many a Ruger, CZ, Kel-Tec or Makarov will agree with me.

However, the Hi-Points have a notoriously bad reputation, which accounts for their lack of popularity here. Now it's possible that their QC is improving; there's no reason a full size blowback pistol (odd as it may be) has to be a piece of junk, but that's what the Hi-Points are known for.

HiPoints are UGLY, they look and feel cheap, they are blocky, they are bigger than they have to be, they are unsophisticated and I want a Hi Point Carbine.

Most of the people I've talked to or heard from online with High Points have the carbine, though I've also heard about some of the pistols as well and the one thing they all say is... the gun is 100% reliable. I have NEVER heard of anyone having trouble with one of these guns. Ruger, CZ, Bersa, Makarov, etc should have taught us by now that a gun doesn't need to cost a fortune to be a good gun.

Even though the Hi Point isn't very nice I'll be happy to put up with that for a useful and reliable addition to my "collection" that doesn't cost much more than I sometimes pay on ammo for a range trip, especially if it fills a niche that is currently unfilled (a pistol caliber carbine).

From my last responce my carbine is one of my most favorite plinkers . It was cheep and reliable . After I get a couple of thousand of rounds I will let everyone know . I have hered they have great coustomer service so why dosent every one that bought one of there guns gust call them for thier servise .

Don't worry tonyulichnie, I know of at least 2 people that will back you and your Hi-Point, right Tropical Z!

Out of all the firearms that I own, the hi-point always is the most reliable, and is accurate enough for me to use as a HD gun.

Some peoples dislike of the hi-point pistol comes from personal experience, while I think others comes from gun snobbery. I'll admit that at times I hate it when someone buys something for a third or less than what I paid and it works just as good.

Shoot on tonyulichnie!
