One of the concerns about people keeping guns in the house is when there's children around. Now it might be prejudicial to say this but I believe boys can be much more of a problem than girls if you've got guns around. Proper storage of firearms would involve keeping them inaccessible to unauthorized people and that would include children both boys and girls but from what I've seen and what is more or less common knowledge is that boys are much more likely to be intrigued by guns than girls are. A boy would be much more inclined to want to pick up a gun and feel macho than a girl who would most likely be much more interested in playing with her dolls or chatting with her friends. So guns are much more of a concern with boy children around than with girl children, although the same safety precautions should be taken in either case.

Even if we were to accept that premise as true it is a minor difference in behavior that only plays out across vast sample sizes and with outliers in each group. It is not worth even considering in regards to practical application.

This is all that really needs to be said on the topic.

The same safety precautions should be taken even if you don't have children around. Guns shouldn't be accessible by anybody who is unauthorized and as to who isn't authorized, its not limited to just children.

What is your point ??

I really do not understand where you are coming from and to what end. Also do not see a question in you post. When securing forearms in "my" house, I secure them from everyone and to the limit of my resources. ...... ;)

If it helps to make some point for you. I have taken my Grandsons to gun shows and my Granddaughters. could care less. Whenever I teach Hunter Safety and safe gun handling. most of students are males. However, every year we got more and more females. ...... ;)

Be Safe !!!

My safe does not discriminate on the basis of sex and I hope my grand daughters appreciate that fact. :D How does one secure their guns from boys but not girls?

All of my guns are locked up when I leave my house except for my carry weapon(s). The safety precautions I take when my grandchildren are around are different than when it is just me and my wife. When kids are around the only unsecured weapon is on me. Normally my bedside handgun is not secured. I may take my carry gun off when rattling around the house. I may also have a long-gun handy. This does not mean I give tacit authorization to anyone. There are many who would have all guns unloaded and locked up with ammo in a separate locked location. If I invite you into my home I do not authorize use of my guns whether I say that or not, unless you a trusted friend and zombies are attacking.

Yes, boys usually have more interest, but still lock them for both.

BTW, note to all! I never in a million years thought my son who is 6 could rack my Glock gen3 g21.
Well, last night I was at computer and Glocks behind me- no ammo handy with them around- but I heard the sound and he was standing there with it fully cocked! My 13 yr old daughter can't even do it!.

He knows they r real, but to all watch those boys, they r stronger than u think.

With kids all guns should be secured or under the owners direct control.

All guns that I own are locked up unless under my direct control, even from adults. One exception would be my spouse, I consider them as co-ownership even though legally they are personal property. I won't leave the weapon unattended with any other person in my home than me and my spouse.

Now to the OP's question. Girls vs boys: in general girls are more responsible than boys.... Having raised a few of my own. That's in general as an average. But it's really an individual basis, and that's how it needs to be evaluated.

In reality, you cannot read people's minds, you can never know what's going on in the thoughts of individuals other than you. So to that end, all guns should be secured from all other humans.

My guns are all under my control...ready for work...My children and Grandchildren know what they are for and did not touch them until under supervision or old enough. Old enough depends...My Son was 12 when I bought him a new 12 gauge and the ammo was in his room. No problems. My Grandson is almost 18 and has zero interest in them.
