KBI is giving me a new Charles Daly.

I bought a Charles Daly 1911 back in November 2001 and after shooting it I discovered pitting in the bore while cleaning it. I had it sent back to KBI in December 2001. My dealer was informed yesterday that I would be getting a new gun. All I thought it needed was a new barrel because of the pitting. The gun was 100% reliable while I had it, the accuracy just went away because of the pitting in the barrel. Have any other Charles Daly owners had this experience?

You sent it back in Dec and are just now getting the info on a new replacement? Seems like a few months. Either way good to hear that they are doing good by you. I am thinking real hard on the DDA compact model so any posts on Charles Daly gets my attention.

I don't know why it has taken them this long, or why they are replacing a pistol that only needed a new barrel. I felt the trigger needed some help so I bought some Ed Brown parts to replace the lockwork and I've been waiting for the gun to come back so I could install them. I should hear from my dealer this week, but I'm not holding my breath until it gets here.:D

On the upside I get to break-in a new gun again! (And I didn't have to buy another one to do it!:D )

If you like the warrenty DO NOT INSTALL AFTERMARKET PARTS it will void it. They have the verbage with the specifics on the website they are very serious about it from what I understand. They will not touch your pistol if anybody but them has worked on it. I would call them and see if they would install the parts you want while it is in their shop.

All the lockwork parts are drop-in. New sear and hammer pins, sear, disconnector, hammer, 18# main spring and a flat-faced long trigger that I'll fit myself. If I need to make use of their warranty for the frame, slide or barrel I can easily put the original parts back in for them to inspect if needed.
