Katrina bill (H.r. 5013) Passed!!!!!

Wow.

This could be a big win.
I sincerely hope it passes the Senate also.
If passed into law, this could be a big step not only for concealed carry/personal protection, but could further disable the Anti's argument that 2A is not an individual right.

First good news I've heard in a while.

Its especially good for the second ammendment because of the language used in it.
The Second Amendment to the Constitution states, `A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed,' and Congress has repeatedly recognized this language as protecting an individual right.
And it states why we need firearms in ther first place.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, certain agencies confiscated the firearms of these citizens, in contravention of the Second Amendment, depriving these citizens of the right to keep and bear arms and rendering them helpless against criminal activity.

^ So simple but they find resons around it "do it for the childrens safety" but they dont understand, I have one child in my life my niece and my brothers firearms and mine are used to protect her if the situation calls. No an even better example "for the safety of every one" but I use my firearms to protect my life and others around me. Oh forget it im preching to the chior now.

Hmmm.

So the NOLA PD and the out-of-town LEOs already ignored existing law, and they'll be sure to obey this new law when the next crisis comes?

Isn't that kind of like celebrating a new gun control law when it's pretty obvious that the criminals didn't obey the ones already in place?

Umm ok you do got me their. Can I say it gives me more of a right to persue a case afterwords, well cant do that if im dead. You do have a really good point

Marko,
Way to rain on the parade! :(
I'm interested in the long-term implications of this bill. It might not matter as a practical measure, but it surely doesn't hurt as legal fodder.
