Kansas gun show deals

This post is sorta limited regionally, as y'all can probably see by the title. Any fellow Kansans score some decent deals on ammo or otherwise at gun shows? Specifically major calibers (9mm; 9mm Mak; .38/.357; .45). I don't have a handgun in .40 S&W or .380 yet, but I might have to remedy someday. (Perhaps a Bersa Thunder, Glock 22, or M&P 40). I get pretty stoked whenever I hear about a show coming up that is relatively close to me...they don't seem to be very numerous. ( I'm in north central KS) and the one that is going to be nearest will be Hutchinson in March. I forget who is hosting it, I don't think its RK...although they have one every few months it seems in the KC/Topeka area. Also, any good finds on C&R?

I can't speak for KS but in my area good deals at gun shows have gone the way of the do-do bird.

It's been a long time since I've seen a decent gun show, let alone one that had any "deals". I'm in KC. It's been very disappointing lately. At least at the one I went to last weekend there was ammo. WAAYY overpriced, but it was at least there on the table.
Good luck!

Yes, the RK Show had alot of stuff to offer. But as Sarge said way overpriced on a lot of stuff. Only thing I came away with was 3 boxes of the Winchester Ranger T-Series 9mm 127gr +P+ for $27/ea and 3 Marlin 795 Fact 10 rnd mags for $21/ea. I thought both were fair prices. MidwayUSA want $28/ea for the mags and then you have to add shipping too.

I'm in a spot where if I really want to I can attend Wichita or Topeka shows, and it's been a big fat boatload of... meh.

I bought 50 round boxes of 230GN FMJ 45 acp for $16 box at the last Wichita gun show in January. It was re-manufactured but very good stuff. I have been buying from the same guy for a year now and everything has been high quality. I think he had 9mm for $10. I also bought ss109 .223 for $19 per 50.

Unless you can't find it because of the shortage, you can buy factory FMJ ammo in both of those pistol calibers for those prices.

About the only thing interesting I found at my local (New Orleans) gun show last weekend was ammo that wasn't in stock back home. Other than that everyone was selling the same exact guns for the same exact high prices. There was nothing but plastic pistols, AR15's, AK's, and CC guns to be found.

There was one dealer that had decent yet very overpriced selection of classic Colt and S&W revolvers, but other than that there were very few used guns and even fewer new revolvers.

The best gun show deal I ever got was Winchester Black talon, 20 rds for $8.50 , but that was backin the early 90's!

Hits rarely, misses many at gunshows

Attended the gunshow in Kenner, LA last week and was quite dissapointed. Same old stuff (mostly semi-auto everything) and prices (too high with hardly any price negotiation).

But occassionaly I will find a good deal. One example is my sweet shooting Kimber Stainless II, like new, in box, with warranty for $760 out-the-door last September. Initial asking price was almost $900.

By comparison last week's gunshow had two Kimber Stainless II offerings. One was very used condition for $899. The other was slightly used with box for $1200. Kimber's last suggested price for this model was about $860 + shipping, etc. Kimber magazines were available for $10 more than Kimber charges and about $14 more than Midway charges. A Hi-Standard .22 pistol with a great deal of pitting and dripping rust colored oil was going for $300 with no room for negotiation. Discovered a Remington 513 Targetmaster for $100 more than I paid at Cabela's last summer for the same rifle.

Primers were available at $38/1000 at the gunshow. Cabela's in Gonzales, LA had primers for $36/1000.

Used firearm prices offered at gunshows, gun stores, and pawn shops are subject to the seller's and buyer's ability to price and to pay. Logically gunshows should have the best bargains because of minimal overhead and almost no purchase guarantee. But that is not the case.
