Kahr question

Hello. I officially registered this morning after lurking on this excellent forum for months. I always enjoy the comments, insight, and comprehensiveness of so many threads. Now I have a question.

My stainless Kahr MK9 with several hundred rounds through it at least has the annoying habit of ejecting the last round of the magazine (the std size magazine) back at my forehead or safety glasses even. First 5 rounds eject normally. Any ideas?

I have to add that my Kahr is the perfect little security blanket for my late evening walks/hikes or trips in the car. Shoots straight, easy on the hands, and still a marvel to me after months of owning it. Don't get me wrong, I love my sig-226 and my Makarov too, but the Kahr is what I'd been searching for for years.

Anyway, I'm thinking maybe the recoil spring is the answer, but I'm just guessing. I can also say that I'm not very good about giving my magazine springs much of a rest, as they are usually always kept loaded.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sig,

I too carry a MK9 and think it is the best small gun out there. However, I'm not having the same problem with the last round that you are having.

I don't think it has anything to do with your mag spring. Contrary to what you might see some places, keeping mags fully loaded is not a bad thing. It is preferable to constantly loading and unloading them.

I'm curious what ammo (grain, type, manufacturer) you are using? Does it happen with all types, or have you tried varying the ammo yet?

I hope you are able to resolve your issue w/o sending the gun back to Kahr for work. I have heard less-than-favorable things about doing so. The MK series guns, however, are great guns. A little heavy for the size, but that is one of the factors that make them so reliable.

Good luck.

Weird, hmmmmm. It almost has to be the Mag spring/follower doing something weird. Its the only functional difference in the two situations...unless I am missing something?

Shoot well

At least it's only the last round. My KelTec P11 showered my forehead with hot ejected brass on almost every shot! Well, I sold it and now it's doing that to someone else. Jeff the 22luvr

My Mk40 Used to hit me in the forehead with 2 out of 6 rounds every time. I put up with it until a hot empty got stuck between the frame of my glasses and my eyebrow (OUCH).
I had my gunsmith stone the ejector face to a slight angle instead of square like it comes from th Kahr. Now the brass all goes just over the top of my head to the right. A little trick we learned from smithing old SKS's.
