Kahr pocket carry

Due to back problems I find pocket carry more comfortable than IWB, though I would rather carry IWB. My most common pocket gun is my Taurus 85 multi, which I find pretty quck to draw and reasonably accurate. But I'm wondering about Kahr. According to the chart I'm looking at the Kahr MK9 is about two ounces heavier than a Glock 26. .17 inches shorter, and substantially thinner. The Kahr P9 covert would be about the same thickness and a little lighter, but 6.1 inches long rather than 5.3. I can't find an "authoritative" statement of how long the Glock 26 is, but the one in my safe measures about 6.38" from the front of the barrel to the back of the polymer grip where it pooches out behind the slide.

I guess I'm asking if anyone is carrying a P9 covert or an MK9 in their pocket, and how it's working out. I think it would be thinner and easier to reload than my Taurus.

These items go with me everywhere 24/7/365. Even if I carry a larger weapon on my belt the MK40 Kahr goes with me in my back pocket as backup. For me, I have not found a more comfortable and practical method in two decades of concealed carry.

Ditto.

I carry a MK-9 everyday in my right front pocket, in a kramer pocket holster.

Very comforting and comfortable.

The glock 26 can be pocket carried also, I carried mine this way most of the summer,Its a little more of a challenge though.

I am considering having a robar grip reduction done to my 26 to make it more pocket friendly, But it is still much larger Than my MK, Loaded weight between the two is almost the same with the glock being about 1.5oz lighter,(glock holds 4 more rounds though)

The mini glock's are terrific cc gun's but I think the MK's are a superior pocket gun.

The Kahr polimer coverts are more comparable to the mini glocks legnth wise but much thinner and lighter and would work well for pocket carry in deeper pockets like dockers.
I prefer the Mk because its fits/rids well in jeans as well.

If I carry my MK9, it's in a pocket holster. It is a bit heavy, but there's no way I could fit a Glock 26 in my front pocket. Nice gun. Not much recoil. And quite accurate considering the dinky little barrel it's got.

I personally think the MK series to be too heavy for regular pocket carry. I'd rather put it (or something bigger) on a belt.

The polymer series are definitely the way to go for pocket carry with Kahrs.

If you choose to carry your pistol in your pocket, make sure you have a sound holster.

At one time I get carry a third gun in my let pocket in a Milt Sparks holster. However, it was tough to get my big paw (my hands are thick--great fist, horrible for the guitar) into my pocket. Thus I stopped doing that. IMHO, pistols belong on the belt where your hands hang. Unless you are like some of my friends whose hands hang around their knees.

The reach for properly holstered pocket gun is with the thumb and first and second finger. Just like you would reach for your wallet. I rarely cram my entire hand into my pocket except the front pocket looking for change. This works well with the MK series guns as they are two finger grip pistols anyway. At some point during the draw you tighten down on the grip in prep for aiming and shooting. It is a process that needs practice but then again so is a belt draw.
Having said all that I do carry my MK 40 on my belt in a Kramer belt scabbard at times and it is very comfortable. easy to forget its there.

Riddle, now do this on your back, on your front, rolling around, seated, crouching. Yikes. This is why guns belong of the belt. So they don't go flying.

I had the P9 Covert but it was too long for pocket carry. It was great for IWB though. I prefer to carry in a pocket so I traded in the Covert for an MK9. The MK9 is heavier but invisible-- I can comforably live with that.

I would reccomend the Elite model. The shorter trigger stroke makes a world of difference to me.

BTW, I finally received my Kramer pocket holster. Hell of a holster! Imagine how disappointed I was when I found they mistakenly sent me a lefty. Now I got to wait another couple of weeks... Damn!

Mr. okie ~

If you can hold on a little while longer, it might be to your benefit. I do believe the Kahr MP9 is on the horizon. FWIW, I saw a tiny blurb in the back of the most recent copy of Guns magazine. My guess is that we may begin to see some by early summer -- I hope so.... I want one.
