I was wondering how it shoots? It seems that everyone loves their p9 and I personally have enough 9mm's and want a .40
Is the recoil difficult to manage? Other than recoil and capacity is there any other difference between it and the p9?
Now there is a familar battle cry. Go VOLS!!! Good to meet you! I am also from the great volunteer state and just happen to have a Kahr P 40. I bought mine about 8 months ago. Let me answer your questions in order. First its shoots great, I was amazed at its accuracy for such a small gun, secondly, .40 is my personal favorite especially for self defense (no offense 9mm fans). The recoil is not bad, don't get me wrong, your shooting a lot of firer power from an 18 oz gun, so you know you've got something in your hand, but Kahr has raised the bore axis and positioned the hand so that there is less perceived recoil. Notice the word perceived, it recoils to the center of your hand more directly in the palm, instead of the web between thumb and fore finger. This makes it feel less, than say a Glock 27, but in fact the gun just comes straight back instead the the usual muzzle flip you get with most guns. Its hard to explain, so I hope that helps. As far differences between it and the P 9, I can't help you there, because I don't have a P 9. It seems P9 fans have had less trouble though based on this post. I love my little P 40 because of its design, weight and shootability, but I've had nothing but trouble with it. See the Kahr Problems post from a few days back. It seems that Kahr is more willing to fix it now, thanks to this post. I'm sending my pistol off next week, I'll let everyone know the result. Hope I helped, Go Vols and lets not forget the Titans!!!
