I recently bought a Kahr P40 and had a problem with the magazine dropping out when cycling the first round of a full magazine. I bought the gun new, went next door to the range to fire it, and on every full magazine the magazine would drop out when the slide cycled on the first shot. I would re-insert the mag, chamber the first round from the magazine, which was still in the mag, and continue with no problems. After a handfull of times, I feared that this was something that would not work itself out. I suspect that the new mag with a new stiff spring combined with defective mag release was the trouble.
Not to worry though, I immediately took the gun back to the shop (now "my" shop) and they were gracious enough to take the gun back and order me a P-9 (the recoil on the 40 was a little much - feels like a lightweight 45 with hot loads) and send the P40 back to the factory themselves - saving me a lot of time and trouble. The P9 has been great so far, especially with my stubby hands.
The reason I posted this was to see if anyone else has had a similar problem and to see if this is something that might be down the road for my P9
