Kahr P40 Covert Recoil Spring

HI Guys,
I just received my new Recoil spring from Wolf Springs for my new Kahr P40 Covert.
I ordered a #22 extra power spring for the P40 since Wolf don't list Covert.
Two questions.
1) Are the stock (factory) recoil springs the same poundage & length for the P40 & P40 Covert?

2) What is the factory # for the recoil spring?

Note:
One problem I noticed when I went to replace the factory spring with the new Wolf #22 spring, is the Wolf spring is about 3/8"-1/2" shorter then the factory spring.
I did not install the new spring for fear it might not be the right one.
Wolf stock Number 50522

Thanks for any insight.

The original factory spring is 20#.

You are correct the 22# spring is about 3/8 of an inch shorter than the 20# factory spring. Wolff makes ALL of the springs for Kahr, including the recoil spring.

The slide assembly for the P40 and P40 covert are the same specifications. Therefore, the recoil spring is the same in both.

I don't see a spring for a P40 on their site. I emailed them and got a response to the effect in which they had no clue what a Kahr P40 is. I then tried emailing Kahr to see if the springs in the K40 and P40 are the same, but no response yet. Anyone know... short of me calling Kahr? I want a 22# spring as well. -Brian

Recoil spring

The slide/barrel assembley is the same for the P and K 40. The wolff site does not as yet recognize the polymer frame versions- too new. I've got the #22 pd spring ordered for my P40 covert.
Part # 50522.

Ok Guys,
Thanks for the responses. A little confusion is evident here with Wolf. Thier Catalog number 50A list the K40 with a factory recoil spring at 22# and thier web sight ( which is where I ordered it from) list the K40 factory recoil spring at #20. While I ordered the #22 spring for extra power over the factory, I am now confused if it is in fact extra power.
Also the fact that the #22 spring I recived is about 1/2" shorter then the factory one bothers me.
I did in fact install it today and tried it out at the range and all worked out flawlessly, howere I have no idea if it is the right recoil spring now.
I will call Wolf and Kahr Arms Monday to ask them to shed light on this.
Again thanks for all your input.

Now I'm really confused! Please let us know what you find out. Thanks.

Called Wolf & Kahr Arms today.
Here's the scoop take for what it's worth.
Wolf claims their web site is outdated and thier catalog is correct that the factory K40 recoil spring is 22#.

Kahr Arms claims the factory K40 recoil spring is 20#

I will take Kahr Arms side on this, however I only spoke to one person at Kahr Arms. Maybe if I call Kahr Arms again I would get a different answer from a different person.
I give.

I have to trust the manufacturer

I just spoke to Wolff and Kahr- Wolff claims the factory spring on the P/K 40 is #22 while a Kahr engineer says that they are only using the #20 spring. He said they had used a #24 spring in the beginning. I had already changed my order with Wolff for the #23 spring. Screw it! It'll at least be safe with loads I'm using. I meant to advise the Kahr people to set Wolff straight.

I find it interesting that the 9mm series originally had a 24# spring in the K9, and now they use a 18-20# spring because people complained the slide was too hard to manipulate. So those with a 9mm Kahr, it seems the 23# Wolff comes closest to original specs if using +p+ ammo.

If the facts are as Wolff states: "the Kahr factory spring is 22 lbs", then why is the 22 lb. spring that Wolff sells 3/8" shorter than Kahr's factory spring which Wolff claims is also 22 lbs.?

I read in the Guns and Weapons, January 1997 issue that Wolff makes ALL of the springs for the entire line of Kahr pistols.
