Kahr P-9 shooting problem

I have a Kahr P-9 and I have shot 150 rounds through the gun. So far it has not jammed at all and I really like the size and feel of the pistol and the way it shoots. The one problem I have had is that sometimes when I fire it my thumb releases the magazine which prevents it from chambering another round and really puts a halt on everything. Since I would like to carry it for self defense this must be fixed first. I have fairly large hands and it looks like if the mag release button didn't stick out so far it would not be a problem. Does anyone else have this problem and know of a solution? I am willing to replace the part with a better one or have this one altered. I will not consider adding to my p-9's grips to make them fatter as this will take away from concealability. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My K9 had a mag catch spring that I thougt was too light. I replaced it with a standard 1911 spring, and that fixed the problem. Since there seems to be a little variation in springs, make sure the one you use works properly.

smokinggun,

Email Kahr with your question and see what they say. I have good experiences with Kahr's customer service.

Had the same problem. Right thumb to low, I engaged the mag release, right thumb too high I hit the slide stop. So, when shooting this particular pistol, I have taken to wrapping my right thumb around the outside of my left hand. Not entirely comfortable but it does not affect my shooting and is pretty damn cheap. ;)
